This. I wanted Gannon to die when he was with the Raiders. I don't like the idea of the guy working with us.
i remember Sanchez throwing it to double coverage and starring down the receiver on most of those picks.
I HIGHLY doubt that. Pretty much what I was thinking. I can go back to the Saints, Bills, Falcons games.....
Saints was his first really hostile road game and Bills was his first bad weather game so I'll give him those. I'll always remember the Falcons game for the Benigno rant that followed.
I heard this and I got pumped up. Gannon can only help the Sanchize become a better QB. Gannon said he spent hours watching tape on Sanchez last year and seemed to be excited about talking with Sanchez. This is going to be a very good thing. Sanchez is a smart kid and I know he had a rough 1st year. He does not have an inflated ego and will learn from the wisdom Gannon has to share.
If this is true, Gannon coming in to help Sanchez is pretty good news. Anything that an help Sanchez make better decisions is a good thing.
O RLY? If Hackett was up for the QB coach Job, i'd take it in a second. If he was up for OC, i'd have to have some of what Rex was smoking.
Hackett was horrible and he continues to be horrible. He couldn't get Jamarcus Russell going. He was the master of the 3rd and long draw. It was said he had a playbook with over 400 formations. I only saw 3 Curtis Martin left, Curtis Martin right and Curtis Martin up the middle.
What's funny is that Sanchez didn't throw many INTs and had a fantastic 3rd down rating.... until Edwards came along. "There wasn't much tape on him" yeah, and Schotty didn't have a new toy he had to play with... and he wasn't getting cute in those first three games. i still think a step back was taken, even with the running game being helped by a #1 WR. The OL was also learning the zone blocking scheme and didn't have it down perfectly yet. Edwards isn't a great route runner either. He relies on his athleticism too much. He had 4 drops, which isn't a lot. But let's remember that 3 of them were in the end zone, and he carries the ball like a fucking loaf of bread. I hope Holmes is the WR kept out of the two. If Santonio can keep his head out of his ass, he's the better target by a mile.
I am a little concerned at Sanchez getting advice from too many people. If Gannon tells him one thing, Cavanaugh another, say Brunell is here and tells him something different, Rex is screaming AMBER AMBER AMBER and Shotty sticks his oar in as well, that can only go badly.
His Problem historically has been Play Calling..... But, with Sanchez, I was actually wishing at times we had him.... Especially the Buffalo game lst year - There's no way in hell Hackett allows his QB to throw that many INTS in weather like that in a game against a team who can't stop the run With a lead. Hackett wins that game. Hopefully, in the end, Sanchez learns more from being thrown to the wolves like that and we have an OC who is more creative.
Horrible OC... not a horrible QB Coach. I don't understand why some are unable to separate the two. And being hitched to one shitty no talent QB (Russell) isn't going to ruin a career's worth of good works.
It just means Russell never had any actual talent, just physical ability, which he was beginning to lose as well as he bloated up to D-Lineman size
Hackett can't claim Joe Montana as Joe was already ProBowl SB MVP before he even was the QB coach. As for Gannon he was nothing special had 2 or 3 good years. Pennington was already a smart QB and was on the team prior to Hackett as well. I would never want Hackett back on team
no no he didnt make it sound like he was making Edwards the goat at all. Nobody would buy that if he said that. btw for the record. sign Bulger, Brunell wait til July please, and cut O'Connel/Clemens.
The Texans game I remember to be pretty hostile, but they had a new DC and the Jets took advantage of it. Plus, we pretty much shocked their offense into submission. Sanchez hadn't thrown a lot of interceptions up until the week before we acquired Edwards, and then he played against a very aggressive defense and threw 3 picks in one game. No, it wasn't a 5 pick game, but Sanchez cost us the game by staring down receivers and got owned by Sharper. I'm not absolving Edwards of fault, but trying to blame all of those picks (and I know that's not what you are doing, mick, just talking people in general) on his simple presence is kind of a copout. Sanchez was staring down wideouts before Edwards got there, it was obvious. Teams just didn't capitalize on it until a month into the season. A number of errant passes in the first 3 games could easily have been picks. Edwards is certainly not elite as a complete wideout, and probably never will be, but he's not a goat, either. He lacked timing with a rookie QB and their OC lacked the wherewithal to manage that situation properly. I agree that Holmes will probably be a better target, but I have no faith that he can keep his head out of his ass. He's a moron.
