i'm a huge fan too..and when the team loses, i fucking hate it......but i'm not unbearable for days......that's a little much. Quit being negative and afraid....you're better than that.
Rhodes may have gone a little far with his 'embarrass' comments, but it doesn't bother me one bit. I also don't see Rhodes as being mediocre, he was a big part of the reason that the Texans had so few yards during that game. Box stats don't make him mediocre. Getting beaten deep does. Did he get ahead of himself by saying he wants to embarrass them? Probably, but after seeing all of Rex's pressers this week practically begging the fans to get into the game, get loud this weekend, I have a feeling that Rhodes was speaking more to the fans than he was to the Pats. As far as being a self-promoter, I'm not sure this qualifies. Does he twitter too much? Probably, but I don't care about that or any of the Hollywood stuff. Most of these guys are doing that to get enough of the spotlight to win themselves a job in front of a microphone after their football days are over. To each his own. But in this instance, I see him as a leader on the team and he's taking his cue from his coach.
A few years ago Rhodes was arguably the best player on our D. Right now he isn't in the top 5 and that's the real reason we have a shot to shut down the Pats D.
It's all just opinion of what we want in our own vision, which ain't gonna happen anyway. All I want is someone's shoe on Brady's head, and BB sitting on the sideline with that sour fuckin look on his face. I can see it now though, kerry Rhodes misses a tackle that ends up as the game winning TD. Why? because he left the door to his cock garage open and something slipped out.
I, like a lot of people, overrated Rhodes a bit just like a lot of people overrated Vilma. He racked up a ton of stats and was put in position to succeed when teams didn't realize what kind of talent he had. I think Rhodes is far above average, but when you put him of a team full of playmakers like he's on right now, he's not going to stand out as much. He's got game-plannable weaknesses just like any player, and they have exposed him a bit. I do think he's going to rack up some decent box stats this year, but I just don't think he's elite like I thought he was shaping up to be a few years ago. I'll take a very good player and a leader on a great unit over an elite player on a unit full of JAGs any day of the week.
Agreed this team is going to have a great D because Jenkins, Harris, Scott, Revis and Pace are great players and the all out attack scheme fits them and the other players including Rhodes. Not because Rhodes has a big mouth.
Of course not because of Rhodes' mouth. I've already stated, I don't think Rhodes' comments have as much to do with speaking to the Pats or to build up the confidence of his teammates as it does getting the fans loud on Sunday. What do you think the casual seat-sitting joe in the Meadowlands wants to hear from Jets players after that milquetoast nonsense they had to hear from Mangini for the past 3 years? What do you think is going to get them wild? ''They are a great team and I think we're going to play to the best of our ability and if we do that, we should come out on top.'' -or- “Not just go out there and try to win, try to embarrass them. Try to make them feel bad when they leave here. We don’t want to just beat them. We want to send a message to them, ‘We’re not backing down from you and we expect to win this game, and it’s not going to be luck, it’s not going to be a mistake.’ ” After years of failure and boredom and collapses, sometimes you need a shock to the system to wake people up to what is going on. And they're going to need the crowd noise to disrupt that Pats offensive rhythm. I don't care what anyone says about how supposedly loud it gets when the Jets are playing, I've seen Jets games and I've seen Giants games both in the same place, and when the Giants give up a first down, their fans don't go into a coma.
As a perenial shit talker, I'm loving this. Sorry, I think even if the Jets lose Monday, they should STILL talk shit about the Pats after the game. Shit talking makes it more interesting and as much as people worry it will motivate the Pats, do you think it wont equally motivate the Jets? I cringe to think what would have happened if this BB existed when Joe guaranteed winning the SB!
The most important thing that he said in the entire article was that Tommy Boy was gonna get hit and hit hard. That's gonna be the game plan and if they get burnt they get burnt but Brady is going to get punished. I think the entire gameplan is to knock Brady into next year and continue to do it until he is begging for mercy. Other than the spygate game these teams have played close games... I feel a 14-10 type game coming on with the Pats scoring late to win but I think if Brady gets hit hard and they manage to knock him out of the game the Jets could win this game. I'm not saying they can't with Brady in there but to me Brady gives them the edge. I like that we're not intimidated by these guys and if we get our asses kicked nothing changes.. the media will still hate us and other teams fans will still mock us. Nothing changes. Honestly; Fuck the media and fuck other teams fans.... As for the talking... didn't a certain HOF Jets QB create his own legacy by talking a little smack and giving the opposing team some bulletin board material? That's so overrated.. this isn't college these guys are used to it.
There is no reason for Rhodes to do this. It was flat out stupid. This is the type of statement that gets the other team up for the game. The players actions on the field speak louder than any words can. Rhodes is an idiot, and Rex is to blame. He better get a hold of himself and the team. There's brash talk and then there's stupid brash talk, and the "embarrass" statement and the "kiss Belichick's ring" statement are of the stupid variety. The Pats are a great team. The Jets don't need to give them any other ammo than they already have! Just my O
That really is true. Brady now has that to think about for the next 4 days. Belichick does too. People can say it won't change a thing but the reality is that it will. Brady will be looking for the blitz every time he goes back to pass. It is the ultimate mind game even if that isn't the plan at all. If you wanted to fight somebody in school was it better to tell them all week long you were going to beat the shit out of them or just walk up out of the blue and do it? Same principle here.
What's embarrassing is losing 8 straight home games to those jerkoffs....... The Jets have a strong chance, but until then Rhodes should stfu and earn that paycheck he was given, because he hasn't yet.
