Trash talking has a bigger effect on a coach losing his job than it does on the play of the game itself. You're crazy if you think that some pre-game trash talking is going to make the players play any harder or any better on either side... do you really think these guys aren't trash talking the whole entire game?

I love the confidence... after the "genius" we're getting a healthy dose of exactly what the Jets need.

At first I my thoughts were that this is a bad idea, too much bulletin board material, yada yada yada. But then I thought - what has being quiet got us? More importantly the bills and the fins are quiet and the Pats don't go in looking to take it easy on them or any one else. Why not talk, if it means the Jets are going to play harder and have more incentive to win then so be it. I think the talk is more so bulletin board material for us, because we have to back it up rather than them. They are great and no matter how much we talk we are the underdogs at home no less. We have nothing to lose and if talking shit is what gets us over the hump then so be it!

I'm not big on the Super Bowl comment, but that came from Jenkins, who can back up his shit talking better than anyone on this team, and who has also been to the Super Bowl - against the Pats. If that's the image Big Jenks wants to use as an anger-building tool in order to destroy Tom Brady, I am all for it. I don't care what they use to get them up, I don't care what they say in the press.

The only thing that truly matters is the product on the field. And after what I saw on Sunday, that's what I am looking forward to. Not the vindication of some words in an article. The win-loss column.

What I like is that the players are taking a key from their HC and trying to get the fans pumped on Sunday through the press. Sad thing is, some of the fans are so scared of losing to the Pats that they get embarrassed by those words.

The game is mostly mental, but pre-game trash talking affects that mentality maybe 2% tops.

Gah, I'm not scared of losing to them. That passive aggressive comment shit doesn't do anything to or for me.

Until this team proves they can beat them, I fully expect to lose to them. I'm not on the field so it's out of my hands. I just have the philosophy of if you can't put up, then shut up. Fighting the good fight is great. That takes place on the field.

When T.O. or OchoDouchebaggo talk shit, people cringe. So yeah being a fan of an entity that makes a jackass out of themself...that's cool and for REAL men.

Good post. I've never bought into the "bulletin board" argument. You psych yourself up for the game. No one does that for you, and these guys are professionals. I guarantee that the Pats would be coming out ready to play, regardless of whether our players said what they did. I've looked at it the entire time as our team's way of psyching itself up and getting ready to play. It has much more of an effect on our game than it does on the Pats'.

I believe the common word for people that talk and don't back it up is "Punk"

So let's hope our beloved team doesn't punk out.

With all that being said...Tom Brady...BB and his little attitude can go fuck themselves.

They better stack that line with 6 and hope and pray someone can get seperation, otherwise Brady is going to meet some very big and violent people in green and white.

P.S. Rhodes better not get burned otherwise he's going to look like a PUNK

I guess what you're saying is, I should seperate my feelings for the team and not really get excited or have any view on what I hope this team can do?

Maybe I do take it too personally. I'm a fan, I can't help it.

Yeah, that bulletin board material means nothing.

I can remember the Pats shoving some Steeler bulletin board material back up their asses in the playoffs a couple of different years!

That was nothing compared to the bulletin board material that Brady gave to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Alright let me ask you guys a question here. The biggest reason I've seen in favor of talking shit is that it builds confidence.

My question is, does losing hinder confidence in your opinion? Will losing after you've put your word on the line, publicly, hinder it even more?

    That's more like 2 questions...but F it.

I thought for a Patriots rag the article was fairly even handed. Some folks just can't handle others opinions I guess.

I don't think it does. I can't remember ever seeing a team or player completely fold due to some comments in the press. Can you?
