Except Mariota reads the field better than anyone else in this draft. And he never took the kind of hits RGIII does so consistently. Seriously, dude has no awareness when he is running.
I'd rather have RGIII than Mariota, any day of the week!!! RGIII is a legit superstar that just needs a change of scenery and a good coaching staff, while Mariota reeks of bust imo.
Imagine a world where Art Briles is our head coach and RG3 is our QB...long shot but we could do worst. RG3 has to improve no matter what. His footwork in the pocket is definitely his biggest flaw, along with his mechanics. That said if he really is benched the rest of the year his offseason started last week. He needs to work everyday to improve himself he can make major strides by training camp next year. I don't think he's finished at all. He'll bounce back and at some point, somewhere, he's going to play like the star we saw his rookie year again too. Some team will land their franchise QB cheap, something Washington had to pay 3 first round picks for. Everyone here should have interest in RG3 depending on the price. Pretty ignorant to blatantly say no to the guy almost taken above Andrew Fucking Luck in the draft.
I'm not sure I'd want either one of them (Briles or RG3). I'd really like a coach who can come in and adapt to the talent we have. Win over the locker room by showing he knows what he's doing. And get rid of the RR culture. Just win, baby!
oh my god no maybe to compete with mariota we need to tank hard and not have a quick patch. we gotta rebuild the crap outa that line and get some corners
Same things were said about rg3 before he was drafted. Otherwise he wouldn't have went as high. He never took hits it college. Because the college game is too slow to stop these guys. NFL isn't.
I don't like Bradford. He's never really done anything impressive and he's a marginal talent at best. RG3's upside is much much higher and you must realize this isn't really taking a chance. Mid round picks are very rarely impact players and if you can get a QB with franchise potential with one, it's worth it. It's extremely low risk. He's cheaper than Vick and he actually has a chance to stick. And stop with that bulshit gimmick offense crap. This is the NFL, not college
no, no and thrice no. I want a classic QB in the mold of Rodgers or Manning (I know we are very unlikely to ever get anyone in the same ballpark but still, that is the style of QB I want to see for the Jets).
Depends on our draft position at the end of the season, if we are in a position where getting Mariota is unlikely I wouldn't mind trading like a third rounder for RGIII maybe even a 2nd.
I've been watching college tape of both. It's not even close. The guy flipped over from hits in college too, he just didn't get hurt. Mariota gets out of bounds or slides.
I'm with you on this one UK.. We need a QB that plays good fundamental football. Reading defenses, goes thru his progessions, quick decision maker and has pocket presence. No more guys that can only take snaps in the shotgun or run first guys. They just aren't very successful in this league.
yep - or they are successful until DCs figure them out then the decline begins - you cannot scheme for guys with great fundamentals.
I wont deny that RG3 isnt more reckless with his running , but to draft a running QB that high is just asking for trouble. 2nd rounder? I might be into drafting him. Basing your entire draft around a kid playing in that type of offense? No thanks. Even if he's the best QB in this upcoming draft its not saying much considering his competition. Mariota could come in and be a solid NFL starter, like Kaepernick who a lot of people compare him to. But people dont mention the great situation that Kaepernick fell into. Great defense , solid oline and run game, decent targets. Not sure Mariota is going to be as lucky if he goes in the top 5 picks and a team like Philly doesnt trade the farm for him.
Remember Kaepernick was not touted the same way Mariota is. That's because Mariota is a lot better coming out of college than Kaepernick was. I think there is a fair comparison to be had between the two but I think Mariota is and always has been a better prospect, because he's a better player.
Bradford in relation to his OC - Brian Schottenheimer - he actually did a decent job prior to his injury. Any guy that can make plays in that offense gets my credit. RG3 will never fulfill his potential, especially with that me attitude.
