....as he should be! If Rex was not visibly pissed at this point, you'd have to check his pulse! What Idzik has done to him is criminal.

Yeah I noticed it too. I kind of liked it. In past weeks he's looked like he had no confidence at all in this team and was for him quiet.

Yeah like no pass rush. None.

NE had 3 OL starters inactive and the vaunted front 7 did jack crap.

Honestly the best case would be for Woody to tie Idzik to Rex once and for all and bring down an ultimatium - either they get their act together TOGETHER or they're both on their keyster after next year. Then Idzik couldn't tie Rex's hands behind his back while at some point Rex is held accountable for non-playoff seasons.

While Rex isn't the entire problem, lets not pretend he's blameless. He may be a good defensive play caller, but he doesn't manage the game very well and his teams are routinely sloppy and undisciplined.

The delusions of the Rex brigade on this message board know no bounds.

    Woody/idzik

They will have hard decisions to make.

I feel really dirty rooting for a L before Halloween.

Thoughts on demoting rex to a DC next year??

Is that even a remote possibility????

No possibility whatsoever. I doubt Rex would be OK with it, being fired is humiliating, going into Jets headquarters as anything but Head Coach doubly so. Even if Rex were OK with it, it would be incredibly awkward for the new Head Coach to have his predecessor running around.

In a league shaped by parity, good teams win close games and bad teams lose them. In point of fact, we are a 1-6 team because we have won 1 game and lost 6.

Rex needs to go. You can't have a defensive system whose pass rush is entirely predicated on formations and blitzes. If the secondary is subpar you can't play man, and you get no rush. Or you play man and blitz, and get burned deep. It also translates into a terrible 2 minute and red zone defense. When you have Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, and Haloti Ngata, or Kris Jenkins, Revis, and Cromartie, it can be very effective.

Did you notice Brady was completing quick three step drop back passes?? The only way you combat that is to jam the receivers at the line..... But we cant cause our db's are garbage........

Rex professes to be a defensive specialist.

He openly gives full offensive control to the OC. I really feel like the situation we are in is so unique.

Firing Rex will do more harm than good.

3rd and goal from the 19 and you give up a TD, because our secondary has no talent.

Of course he is pissed. We have been in position to win 5 out of the 6 games we lost and we lost them all, not because of coaching but because we have no secondary. Rex's entire defensive system only works when you have guys that can cover pretty well. Otherwise all he can do is just play basic coverage and hope for the best.

I can't believe any head coach would accept a demotion with his own team. If Rex is fired, and can't get a head coaching job anywhere (which I think he will) he will take a defensive coordinator position anywhere but here.

I bet Woody doesn't even know when we win or lose until he reads about it the next day in the newspaper.
