Rex will be the first to say he let himself down and he'll mean it. He won't speak out against his players. That is the one reason every player in the league wants to play for him.
Rex is the man because he sticks up for his team and the fans. He dares to believe. He promises a Superbowl, he has big goals for our team. People criticize him because he talk a big game, he's got some swagger. You're not supposed to be like that in the NFL, you're supposed to tight lipped and soft spoken. Rex kicks back in people's faces. He will take us to the big game. I just know it. This one was painful. Hell, they're all bloody painful. Rex will make us Kings of the NFL. We're just getting started.
Rex had great game plans for the Patriots and Indy. He also made great half time adjustments in all three playoff games. With that said, he did not have this team fully prepared for the Steeler's first half game plan. I like Rex and think he has a bright future but he has only been a head coach for two years and this game might just have been part of that learning curve a good coach needs to become a great coach.
Talked a ton of shit and fell short. There has got to be a finite (and pretty short) timeframe for the effectiveness of his brash style.
we dont want him to change, and if the players see him change..well they wont buy fully into what he is saying. fuck i cant wait til the draft, and then training camp.
He did look like Bettis. Mendenhall showed a lot of heart & continuosly ran over/through some Jet defenders who played like they didn't belong on the same field.
Its incredible how much he is hated by fans around the league. I don't really care because I am very happy to have Rex as my coach, but you would think that more people would like his style, which strays from the boring conformist nature of most coaches in all sports. He does occasionally say needless things, such as the Brady comments on work ethic when he was trying to complement Peyton, but for the most part he just preaches confidence in his team, belief in his players and himself and an overall culture of team unity. I guess from afar people only read the headlines in their city which are more than likely "beefed up" to sell papers, but all-in-all Rex is harmless and is a great motivator. Which gets me wondering why he had no motivational tactics last night. Came out flat!
Huge question Hobbes.. I wonder if Rex can evaluate his staff thru a non-emotional lense as he's so attached to his players and staff. Pettine and Schotty both could be upgraded but with no CBA, its highly unlikely any change will happen until something happens on that front first. Probably no real change until 2012-13 season at the earliest.
