Yes, I think it's absolutely imperative to judge a coordinator on one game. Let's just ignore the past several years. His team gave up 10 points and got lucky therefore he truly must suck. Next.
Same here I really dont care either way just wanted to make a point isn't that what a message board is for?
ALSO, I think they looked a little tire and beat-up because of the short week...We will see this coming weekend with 8 days to prepared
I'm not blessed with a silver tongue like some of these guys. I know I'm a great football coach. I know I'm a leader of men, especially guys that play this game. That's probably my edge over other people." -Rex Ryan
nobody is saying he sucks as a DC, what the thread is about is Rex being treated like he is going to win 3 consecutive SB once he receives a HC position, his father was a great DC but a horrible HC who is to say he will not be the same? and if members can't disagree without being castigated then maybe the forum should have a disclaimer that only members who agree with each other can post!
The mistake some of you are making...is that you cannot judge a HC candidate solely on his coordinating performance and how well his unit does or doesnt perform. Typically HC candidates not only need to know Xs and Os from their coordinator days, they have to be able to think much more "Big picture",they have to be able to motivate, and they have to make big in game decisions. There are a ton of different factors. All this "Ahh SPags defense stunk today..we don't need him" or "Rex's D was sick on sunday..he's our man" Is ill-concieved. You need to look at the entire resume and every single factor when you consider who should be the new man in charge.
To the Baltimore Ravens credit, considering they were screwed week 2 because of the storm that struck Reliant Stadium in Houston, they havent had a bye week since Mid September and are still playing as hard as they were to open the year. Their original Week 10 BYE became a game vs Houston.....So for Ryan to get the defense this energized from start to finish makes him look all the more better.
I was in a bar when this game was on and there wasn’t a brother in there without a crooked Ravens hat and their drawers hanging out. The Ravens must be bad ass by the way all of their fans were trying to show theirs. Glad they won so no one got a cap bustid’ in em'
Crash and burn??....the Giants D had a safety and 2 INTs.....sure, they lost the game....but with no Plaxico Burress in the lineup...and a severly banged up Justin Tuck...the Giants D still played well....they shutdown Brian Westbrook.
The premise of this thread is pretty retarded, but I agree with the idea that Ryan should be questioned as to his HC ability. I'm teetering toward being cool with him being selected as the new Jets HC, but I am far from comfortable with his lack of experience for the job. Yet another rookie HC filling a position where all of his rookie predecessors have failed in the long run.
Giants D let up 276 net yard of O and 29.45 TOP to the Eagles. The Ravens allowed TN 391 Net yards and 34.07 TOP to TN who's number 1 Offensive player went down in the first half. TN lost their game on penalties and mistakes the Giants lost their game by their O not capitalizing when they had field position. I would be happy to get either Ryan or Spags based on the way their D's played this year.
True...Hmmm, week 13, I believe, didn't Tenn hang 31 points up on Pitts, which is the #1 rated in defense? Everybody has bad games, though for some, they come few and far between. Rex's defense is very impressive, but what sells me on him equally is his demeanor and knowledge of the game.
And try to look at the whole body of work, not just one game. The 85 Bears let the Dolphins win, does that mean they sucked?
Buddy wasnt a total failure as head coach. In fact you can make the case that he turned the Eagles franchise completely around, especially difficult when you consider he was in the NFC East when it was the pre-eminent division in football.
