I thought the real prize was the Super Bowl... Neither of our teams has excelled in that department...
I realize how many love Rex....my point of view is mangini got fired at 9-7 and put the D together that rex was handed....rex's coaching decisions/ draft decision/staffing decisions have been pitiful IMO. to me its clear he and Tanny dont know what the f*ck they are doing...Id bet anything we dont make the playoffs for the rest of rexs time here. draft/fa's wont help this sinking ship
Rex has been there before. Don't forget he's got a ring. We'll be just fine with him. He isn't guaranteeing anything. People will use any ammo they can find against Rex these days, even if it mean quote mining him.
That's a little extreme. I think Tanny had a bad offseason last year, but he's done far more good than bad. I'd like to see a renewed focus on getting depth through the draft, keep building a strong defense, and get Sanchez a deep threat. I'd be surprised if we didn't make the postseason again with Rex as the coach. He's done a really good job here. Last year was tough, but I personally think that it was because Tanny made huge mistakes in the offseason.
Sure it is, but it's fun watching your team win games in January and have a real shot at getting to the superbowl. Dolphins fans would have loved to have had Rex's big mouth coaching there team in '09 and '10 if it resulted 4 playoff wins. They'll never admit it though.
The Jets did well drafting under Mangini, but he couldn't coach a defense to save his life. Don't you remember how AWFUL that defense was in 2008? And that was with a healthy Kris Jenkins. It was one bad year. The fact that we even consider 8-8 a terrible year is a good thing.
Is he serious with this shit again? Mark Sanchez is the qb. Until you get an NFL caliber qb, stop talking about the SB. You look like a laughing stock when you talk a big game, then have a qb come out on the field who cant read a defense nor pick-up a blitz. You can start talking about SB if you sign Manning. Until then, STFU with that non-sense.
Maybe Rex has a little more belief in his chosen starting QB than you do? I know it sounds absurd, but it's just a thought.
He didn't gaurantee anything. Rex mentioned how he had less rings then his brother and father, and how he wanted to win one quickly. That's it, no gaurantees about this year or the next. There was nothing wrong with what he said. People, including the idiots in the media, don't read what he actually said. All they see the SB mentioned, no matter how vaguely, and run with it.
I love Rex and definitely think he is up there with Weeb as our greatest HC but has anyone seen that video titled ''Rex adventures'' on Jets website? I cant post a link as my post count ain't high enough, but please tell me he was doing all this movie making shit etc last off season cause if he was doing all that shit during the season it really does not surprise me he did not have the pulse of the team. Sometimes i think someone needs to take Rex to one side and remind him he is a football coach not an A-list celeb or an actor, stop making fucking Pepsi commercials and fucking crack on with the shit that really matters your god damn bread and butter. I think this whole team lost sight of what is important and lost the fucking plot last year, stabbing each other in the back then making shity Pepsi commercials together. Get a fucking grip that add was an embarrassment and sums it all up to me while we are clowning around film making chatting shit and cat fighting other teams are getting drilled and focused on getting a ring Still think Rex is the man to deliver a SB though just needed a vent as that video pissed me off.
Weeb won NFL titles in 58 and 59 as head coach of the Colts. He was the winning HC of what is still considered by many the greatest NFL title game ever. He also got the Jets to the SB in year 3 of the event and was the winning coach of the single greatest upset in Super bowl history. Not sure how anyone can consider Rex in the same breadth as Weeb a very deserving HOF coach. Weeb unlike Rex won 2 NFL titles before he joined the Jets. Weeb unlike Rex built two teams from scratch to champions, he wasn't handed a loaded team on both sides of the ball. If Rex actually has a plan to win a SB real soon he should impliment it real soon becaues the D has gotten worse not better and the O has gotten worse not better.
I lurked these forums a year ago, and judging by the comments being made about Rex then and now, it's amazing how many people jumped off the bandwagon
