Last year the Pats won the division, but the Jets went up to their stadium in the playoffs and beat them convincingty. Somehow to Francesa it's better to be the Pats than the Jets in that scenario? It's goign to irk fatso so much this year when the Jets are better than the Giants and then beat up on them in Jets Stadium.
I love me some Rex. I had no clue it was a book like this, I thought it was going to be about coaching techniques or some shit like that. The title, "Play Like You Mean It: Passion, Laughs, and Leadership in the World's Most Beautiful Game" doesn't sound like it's going to divulge such information. I hope he goes into detail about his time with the Ravens.
"But what didja win?!? What?!? Tell me wat da jets won!! Nuthin!! Dats wat!!! Da Giants jus won da supahbowl a few yee- ahz ahgo!!! Yoose yor noogin!!!" Back aft a dis
Beli knew (and I believe worked with) his dad so I'm sure that's where the regard comes from. It does seem like Beli's Jet hatred has softened since Mangini left.
I think it's about respect. He respects Rex, he didn't respect Mangini after he left NE and didn't respect the leadership the Jets had when he was here and left.
It sucks that this book could not come out after a Super Bowl Championship, but maybe he can release a sequel after that.
I don't buy the argument that he should've saved the book till he retired at all. Write what you want, when you want. If people don't want to read it they won't buy it. I bet people want to read this.
It has less to do with when he wants to write and more to do with cashing in on a hugely popular show in hard knocks making him a star. Rex is at a point in his career where people talk about him alot, they may love or hate him, but they talk about him. He's going to make a lot of cash on this book and probly got a nice up front fee.
The reason I'm not too fond of this because it might get players thinking. "If I do this or don't play as good I might end up in Rex Ryan's next book." Adds even more pressure.
Nice comments about Beli. Still can't stand him tho. I'm looking forward to this book. My 9 year old son who is starting 5 days a week of football practice in August told me he wants to read it when I'm done with it. I'm sure he'll go pro after reading it.
I'd hazard a guess that there would be alot of bullshit in a book by Rex. I wouldn't be surprised if any of those anecdotes like the Barton and Gholston one are made up.
