111 yards rushing @ 3.3 ypc average and 1 rushing TD against the 26th ranked rushing defense, I would not call dominating by any stretch of the imagination. We won the game in the trenches, but mainly because of the the defense, not so much the somewhat anemic offense.
Ahmen to that last one...... ....at least the offense was not loaded up with all that razzle dazzle bullshit that fools nobody at all. Pretty much straight up "here it comes, stop it if you can" football for a change. Oline needs to step it up a little though.
This is all well and good, except that Rex specifically said he didn't make any changes to the offense. He simply sat in the meetings and spoke when he felt he had something to contribute. What he probably said was "Just stop trying to be cute. Otherwise, keep the plan intact." And of course he told Sanchez to relax.
It's only a matter of time before someone on here starts complaining that the offense is too conservative. A job well done yesterday, lets hold on to the ball though!
Actually it was Matt Cavanaugh, he is now the Jets QB coach which you probably already know and every team that has won the SB has had an extraordinary defense and good to great running game, that is what Rex is trying to build here, ground and pound, control the game, pass it to move the chains and let the defense take care of getting the ball back to the offense in good field position. If BS used this "ball control offense" and won some playoff games possibly a SB he would not need to be considered brilliant, he would be known as a winning OC and the job offers would be rolling in. I mean if Eric Mangini could get 2 HC jobs, c'mon how hard can it be as long as you come from a winning organization?
Yes. However...we finally managed to avoid beating ourselves. Two things are true. If we do not go out of our way to beat ourselves, we'll win most games. If this team can manage to play mistake free, we should dominate most teams.
