    Mr. Smooth he is not.

Pretty good characterization of the conference call. I had my own private drinking game while I was listening. A shot for each time any one of the following was said:

    "I'm/We're very excited"
    "Heckuva"
    "Pulse of the team"
"Not going to get into specifics"
    "We'll get back to...."
"Have great confidence in..." (also would accept "complete confidence," "extreme confidence," or "total confidence.")

For any indication of a solid point with real-live information I'd have to chug the bottle. That never happened, of course.

Does anybody really think that Rex is the actual Head Coach of this team? Looks like he was hired to run off his mouth and get attention for a franchise that has had nothing but negative attention in the past. At this point, Rex is more of a figurehead whose poll numbers are at an all time low due to his inability to improve as a coach. The fact that most of his "star players" have failed to perform and/or improve is of little surprise.

Jay Glazer would be proud of Rex's EXTREEEEEEME CONFIDENCE.

But yeah, also what I found funny was during Sparano's portion, the first guy just charges into his first question and Sparano is like, 'Well first off, HELLO' and then each subsequent writer made a sappy congratulatory intro before they asked their question.

I hate New York sports writers.

Remember when we bitched about his clock management?

    Oh...the good old days.

I am not saying that this mess cannot be turned around as I believe it can. Hopefully without devine intervention :eek:hmy:

That said the ORGANIZATION MUST begin to make smarter moves,,player wise,, coach wise and in every facet of running things. I remember that first press conference when Rex came across , not so much cocky but matter of factly,,,,how we all thought we were getting a different version of the Ravens but a good version nontheless--------------wow what a difference 3 years makes!

I think this was a positive thing. Sparano was doing the old-fashioned thing of getting to know people before they tried to make their 15 minutes of fame off of him.

Jack, you didn't add: "no question". I would imagine a person would be passed out on the floor after taking shots every time Ryan sez that.
