Yep, that's why if you're going to hire a new GM you either let that new GM have the decision about the head coach staying or going or you just make the HC the GM.
By going into the season without any NFL quality cornerbacks even though we were 20 million dollars under the cap. There is no argument to be had - the Jets simply didn't have a chance to win anything last year with the talent they had on their roster, no matter who was coach. Outside their defensive front 7 they were hot garbage. I certainly had my problems with Rex over the years but last year was squarely on Idzik.
To make a coach win games now while only spending 80% of what's at your disposal makes no sense. It would've taken a miracle for Rex Ryan to keep his job. He actually worked a miracle in 2013, couldn't do it in 14.
I think Rex and his Ground and Pound/Wildcat was behind the Tebow thing. I don't think Tanny went out on his own and brought him in for the hell of it. So, in short I agree he took the fall for it.
I put that squarely on the shoulders of Idzik. I don't know what game he was playing at but Dimitri Patterson wasn't the answer. However, I wasn't addressing last season so much as I was inquiring about why Junc thought that the Jets messed things up with Rex in lieu of Rex helping things along the path they took to his eventual firing.
I would hope that every NFL HC thinks this about every opponent on their schedule. If not, they aren't HC material..... That being said, Rex is just being Rex. I hope this time around it plays out different.
Fuck that flying fathead. He's gonna bring embarrassment to your organization before its all said and done. He's still talking shit days after some rookie had the gall to speak truth to the fraud that is Rex Ryan..
Rex doesn't think that way about the whole league, just the Patriots and now the jets. You will see the difference in game planning when it's pats week and when it's oakland week.
no crush just an appreciation of those that help my team win. Rex helped my team get closer to a SB than at any point since SB III. Rex gave us the biggest win in franchise history outside of 1968. I appreciate that.
You have to listen to what Amaro and Colon are saying. Plus just look at the lapses in defense over the years. He can be picked apart. Good NFL coaches see that and pounce on it. When he coaches the Bills to me it's to our advantage. Chalk one up two times this coming season. If they win it's on talent not coaching.
The worst are bye weeks..... all Bills fans need to see about Rex is how the Jets got their doors blown off by the Bills days after the Bills had to go to the airport like they were Nanook of the North.
The staff was sleeping at the facility.. The players they had to go get with freakin snowmobiles. They had half the time they normally do to prepare for a game with the distraction of having to worry about how their families are managing without them. The jets came back from their bye week vacation, rested. They had a whole week to prepare. Plus the extra day since the game was moved to Monday. No distractions except their own lack of accountability. Oh- and the game was played at a neutral venue. The jets had all the advantages in the world and were EMBARASSED!! And the Bills of all teams were so impressed by that they hire Rex Ryan? It's laughable
And it wasn't just this year. The Jets won a game against an equally unaccountable Dolphin team to end the 2013 season so everybody felt warm & fuzzy like better days were ahead and all all bets were called off. Well that 2013 team going 8-8 was smoke and mirrors beginning with the Tampa Bay roughing penalty brain cramp, the Bills playing a scrub plug-in secondary and a weak schedule during the 2nd half of the season. I appreciated 2010, but that alone should't give you a pass for 4 years of lousy football with not even a whiff of the playoffs, Idzik or no Idzik. And that Buffalo scenario you BarryB and BrowningN described pretty much says it all. Every advantage staring them in the face vs. Buffalo and not only did they spit the bit, they were totally unprepared to play the game and that's totally on the coach. It was time to move on.
we sucked, that was Rex's fault? Buffalo was MUCH more talented than us and playing for something. Rex was out of the door. it amazes me how Jet fans continue to bash Rex for what he did here.
BB is 3-4 in games after byes w/o Tom Brady(9-3 w/ him- amazing how that works?) Rex was 1-2 in the years he had good teams, one of the losses a close loss to eventual SB champs, the other loss by a point. the last 3 years we weren't good and lost at Seattle in 2012, at Buf in 2013 and vs. Buf(Det) 2014.
I am crossing my fingers hoping that tonight when they release the fixtures we get Buffalo after their bye week.
yea but rex was 1-3 after the bye with sanchez at qb. And you told us average fans he was good. So why the losing record there?
Rex was out if the door, what does that mean? Please define that. Does that mean he knew he was going to be fired so he stopped taking his job seriously? Please define it otherwise stop saying it
so what you are saying is that ladanian tomlinson deserves appreciation for helping the team win... in the playoffs and get them closer to a sb than any other 3rd down running back since superbowl 3. he did score 2tds against indi in 2010 playoffs. had a td reception in foxboro the next week too.
