Seems to me if Bowles is the kind of coach Amaro is painting him to be, he's already had a rather unpleasant call from that coach.
And we want to kick the shit out of you. Bring it. Can't wait to hang two quick divisional losses on their asses. Or two late ones. Whatever. Hurry up and come out, schedule. And stop bitching about your last days here. It didn't work out, you found a new job immediately, count your blessings and move on.
Not sure why everything has to be black and white - it just struck me that, as head coach of the team, he had to be aware that he would be held accountable and must, in some measure, have been accountable. You can't be head coach of a team for six years and act surprised when somebody says you must have had something to do with the state of the team. You can choose to hold Idzik more accountable if you wish, but that doesn't mean Rex can stand there with a big surprised look on his face and say 'Gosh, why ever would they blame me for anything that happened there?'
I lost a lot of respect for Rex with these comments. I wanted to move on with a new coach for awhile but I respected him for not throwing others under the bus, not bashing the Jets, or the guys above him or the players as the downfall stretched on and he got fired. These comments change all that. And its not just comments after being asked about it either it's a freakin sports illustrated spread where he does a little bit of all of the above. Its very unprofessional. But then again he was never a very professional type, so I guess whatever.
Rex claimed last year that he felt the team wasn't good, but yet he was saying that they were a playoff team. It must be 2 sides.
I'm sure that after 6 years you probably figured out that Rex is as far from a High Road kind of guy as there is
Greg McElroy had some pretty harsh words regarding the culture of the locker room and Rex/Tanny were still in charge when he said it. He wasn't the only one either. LT had some pretty damning words about the culture of the Jets under Rex as well. Two guys on completely different ends of the status spectrum observing and sharing details that, quite frankly, should surprise nobody.
Hey, I wanted to kick the shit out of the JETS for most of the 90's so it's not that big of a deal...........
LT whined about SD when he left too. LT should have been grateful we got him closer to a SB than he ever got in SD. McElroy is out of the league. the fact that he was a backup tells us all we need to know about our talent at the time. we had little of it when we were losing and Rex maximized wins w/ that talent. was he the perfect coach? No, players grumble on every team but Rex is a damn good coach.
would you have preferred he comes out in August and says "this team is going to suck, we'll be lucky to win 4 games"?
What does a player's talent have to do with players criticizing the culture of the locker room? The locker room is what it is, whether you're a great player or not. They were a part of the locker room and have first hand experience. We've seen countless reports about Rex not holding his players accountable. None of this should surprise anyone.
this is off topic but since were talking McElroy McElroy is a very good analyst on SEC Network IMO. Insightful and usually not biased. I like to hear what he has to say. Much better than that fairy Tebow and most the talking heads on ESPN/SEC Network
No surprises here. Even the media running with it. This bs here is right up rex's alley.... Amaro deleted his follow up tweet. Good for him. The Kid prolly learned somethin' here.
