We better get a QB if we want to have a chance..can you even imagine what their from 4 will do to Smith?
It can't get any worse than what they did to Rex Ryan coached Jets last year.... actually the last 3 years: Rex Ryan's last 3 games @ Buffalo (1 neutral) 0-3 and outscored 103-26.
yep, a vastly superior Buffalo team won 3 of 4. the talent gap has been closed significantly. we actually have NFL talent to trot out this year.
"Amaro's full of shit, and I'll remind him of that when we play him" vs. "We had an issue with that last year. Guys just weren't accountable last year as much as they could be." hmmm what comment was worse? What comment was coming from a "Leader" of a franchise vs. a player? that is a tough one
I always thought that Woody admired Rex because Rex is everything he isn't. Popular, gregarious a little outrageous, lots of friends, etc. He looked up to Rex the way the class nerd wants to be like the popular kids in class. Woody comes off as a book worm and a reserved guy. A major reason Woody fired Mangini is supposedly because he didn't like what he brought to the organization personally. Secretiveness and a no fun atmosphere. Not sure of Bill Belichick could have survived here under Woody. Although based on what we know the real reason he quit the Jets was not wanting to work under Parcells.
Woody is like that guy you meet at a party with inheritance wealth that everyone dislikes and is out of touch with everyone else. He's that guy at that party that feels the need to show you all of his "stuff" five seconds after you meet him. He'll show you the aged wine he bought for 1000s of dollars and wonder why you are drinking regular wine when his tastes much better. He loved Rex because it was a good conversation piece when showing off.
Still love Rex. It's gonna be fun. He has every right to want to kick the shit out of the Jets after they saddled him with no corners and told him to win games now.
Rex: “They were trying to pull away from me, like it was my fault, somehow" You were the head coach, Rex.
Woody seems to me to be that guy at the party who sits in the background and is too shy to talk whereas Rex is the exact opposite. Outgoing, funny, boisterous, etc. The life of the party. Woody basically wants to be like Rex. And Rex wants to be like Woody (financially that is).
Rex keeps saying that Woody had to fire him. And keeps saying good things about him. Of course it's smart to not burn bridges with a billionaire. You never know: it's not out of the realm of possibility that Rex could some day again be under the employ of Woody. Rex could pull a Marrone with Buffalo some day and I'm sure no matter what he says now he's capable of doing it. I personally hope it never happens.
Tannenbaum was a magician. As we know, magic isn't real. It was a dog and pony show with the cap, and he put us into cap trouble. The fact that we got as far as we did in the playoffs is actually a testament to Sanchez elevating his game well above his regular season track record. In all honesty, if Sanchez doesn't elevate his game, then both Rex and Tannenbaum are gone after 3 years. I guess now that I've talked myself through this, I totally understand the long term deal for Sanchez. He never deserved it, but he really is the reason those guys were allowed to hang around.
Yes, I read the article. To be fair, Rex's meaning isn't entirely clear. I read it that he felt the Jets held him responsible for the state of the team. It is possible to read it that he felt the Jets believed he had become the face of the franchise and that this was a problem. Even if he did mean it that way, I'm not sure exactly what his point was...
Rex wanted to kick the shit out of all the NFL teams the last 4 seasons. He went (26-38). He is an embarrassment who won't shut up. Hopefully Bowles and the Jets can do it for him this season.
