Maybe or maybe not. Depends on how good of a hire the Jets new GM is. He'll want total control on all personnel decisions including Rex.
Bingo. It's just speculative talk, nothing more. Of course Rex wants the offense fixed. Our really good defense is being wasted. I think they all do. Woody knows it. You have to start with the offensive coaches, in particular the QB coach who failed to properly develop Sanchez.
If Eric Mangini could immediately land another job after Spygate, then Rex could land another job after a rather successful tenure with the Jets. Football people respect that, for all of his bombast, Ryan knows his X's and O's.
He was passed over for HC by the team that knew him the best. I think teams are going to shy away from him as a HC. If he does leave the Jets, this would make for a great wagering thread!
The Ravens regretted Rex leaving at least for the first two years. He was passed on because they thought they had a better option, in Jason Garret. Jason Garret turned down the HC to remain as the OC in Dallas. Ravens wanted someone with an offensive background and not a total defensive guru to lead the charge.
Flacco is slightly better than Sanchez. Rex was able to hide Sanchez for 2.5 years, he could have hidden Flacco to a SB in BAL.
Because most people are sheep and simply follow the herd...lack the capacity to reason and to decipher BS
They passed Rex over for Harbaugh, a special teams coach. They also passed him over for DC twice before giving him the job.
Unless I am watching an unedited live interview on the TV in progress I don't believe anything that I read anymore about RR or the Jets in the mainstream media.
This says it. If people didn't buy into the headlines and just completely ignored them, the media wouldn't know what to do. They'd implode. As long as people buy into this obvious crock of shit the media will keeping feeding the sheep.
Rex fanboys are now in the anger and denial stage. Come on fanboys, everyone can see the offense is a humongous disaster. It is not that far-fetched Rex would make statements where he's showing concern for the state of the offense, and if it doesn't get fixed, he might as well get fired now. He's no dummy, he understands next season is the year we have to clear the crap from our roster. We do not have the money to spend next season to fix the problems on offense. Hello? Rex knows this. If you fanboys are honest with yourselves then you know this too. There is no upside to next season for Rex unless a miracle happens and a star QB drops out of the sky.
Because of Rex BUT, it takes more than a good defense to win Super Bowls. I think the big problem people have with Rex is that he's so one sided. No one has any confidence in Rex's view of offense. Most consider it outdated. The case could be made that its overcompensating for the lack of talent on the offense from the Qb on down. Rex gives lip service to wanting to be more involved with the offense but when he espouses the "gound and pound" as a goal instead of part of a modern offense, it gives people agita.
The question remains though: what do the Jets gain by moving forward offensively if the price is declining defensively? The Jets need a really good plan at this point. Just throwing everything up in the air at the same time is probably going to invalidate the good things that have happened in the draft the last couple of seasons. This following the disasters of 2008 to 2010 would probably flatline the franchise.
