it all comes down to us jet fans wanting that magical QB that u can pencil in each week for 19 of 30, 250+ yards, and at least 1 TD pass over 25 yards - with an occasional int that doesn't cost the game. we have gone years watching guys like marino, kelly, and brady kill us in the AFC east. many of us thought it was the jets "turn" for that type of QB with the early success of MS. not so fast i guess
Well I don't know, which of your definitions are we using here? According to your original definition it obviously wasn't, but those were pretty ridiculous criteria. However, if you're going by the way you evaluated Eli's game then it wouldn't be so crazy to call it elite. He had a significantly better completion % than Eli, he threw for about 100 yds less than Eli but had 3 TDs to Eli's 2 and also had 0 Ints. His average completion was 7.8 yds. He was also playing on the road against our biggest rivals who have generally been dominating the Jets for the better part of a decade. Whether you want to argue over the semantics of calling it an ''elite'' performance or not, he played an excellent game, at least as good as Eli vs the Ravens. For the record, I don't consider Sanchez to be elite by any stretch but it gets tiring listening to people try to discredit any success he's had just because he hasn't turned into the next Brady/Rogers/Peyton/Breeze yet - especially smack-talking Pats trolls.
Bingo, I think you finally got it. And I agree, the game against the Pats last year was an elite performance by Sanchez.
OK, well that does completely contradict your posts in the ''Has Sanchez ever had an elite performance thread'', but I'm glad we agree.
You stated your sentence as if it was a fact - not in the, "in my opinion \ I think \ The way I see it \ " form. I thought you had some experience or exposure to further back your comment. Now I know that it was nothing more than a harmless opinion. My fault.
If anyone on this board attempts to paint their opinion as fact, feel free to challenge them as I know of only several posters here affiliated legitimately with Pro Sports and one of which actually played in the NFL. Out of respect to their privacy, I won't divulge. I'm sure you understand. From experiences in real life, things like what we've read about just don't happen out of the blue in any job situation. These feelings had been building and losing just brought them to the surface. Rex really needs to get down to the core of the problem instead of a PR quick fix like having Moore and Holmes trot out to do a coin toss.
