Mangini had infinitely better QB play from Pennington and even Favre than Rex has ever gotten from Sanchez or Geno.

I disagree. Does Rex have a résumé? yes. Will Rex get an interview? yes. Is Rex a good talker? yes.

If Herm and Mangini could find jobs after, im sure Rex can to. The Bucs have the pieces outside of QB to be good. If they end up with Bridgewater I see them doing what the Colts did, bring in a defensive guy to build a defense and have a good QB to complement it. I would give the nod to Lovie Smith but Revis would be an x factor that I think would pull Rex in.

Rex is the AFC version of Lovie Smith, It would not surprise me to see him fired if the Jets have another 6-10 season. It's not that Rex can't put together a good defense, it's the only thing he knows how to do.

He is not a good game manager, has no feel for the game. It's okay if you specialize on one side of the ball, but the HC job overall is game management.

And let's be honest, any coach who still thinks the wildcat should be part of the gameplan is just fooling himself and no one else.

If Rex had a good QB our perceptions of him would change almost instantly.

Everybody taking potshots at him has had their perceptions shaped by a QB who just collapsed down the stretch two years running, the first collapse at the end of a season that was still looking good and the second collapse at the end of a bad year.

I'm hoping that Geno begins to look like a good QB instead of a potentially good QB. That would end the "Rex is a DC" conversation in a hurry.

Rex is signed through the end of 2014 and he makes (I think) around 3 mil per. In most cases a HC is not a lame duck and has a contract covering at least two additional seasons. The idea is that if a coach doesn't have a contract no one will listen to him. I don't think Woody wants to pay him not to coach. Or to be with another team. They know the Jets are not going to be that good for the next two seasons and maybe Woody and Idzik want a lame duck to take the hit rather than to pay a new coach to be unsuccessful. The same kind of thinking why they have not released Mark Sanchez. I'm ok with it because I don't think that Rex deserves an extension. His team is not well coached (20 penalties in one game for example) and they haven't made the playoffs in two seasons. And to me a lot of that falls on him.
