God. I was as sick as Rex as much as anybody. He doesn't act like conventional coach who pretends he knows something he doesn't, he doesn't keep the media out by shouting gibberish and he can't keep videos of his wife's feet out of our face. But the guy genuinely loves to coach and his players love him because he doesn't jerk them off or lie to them. That's half of coaching right there. He doesn't keep his emotions under his sleeve and maybe WE SHOULD listen to him. The Jets finally have a first class front office under Rex. They are giving him the players he needs to create competition in practice and in games. The Jets are a hungry team and a young team, that is a dangerous team!
Rex says something like this every year. If you give any credence to this after 5 years, you should be on calming meds by now. At the end of the season, we always wind up like the guys on "Mountain Monsters". Lots of effort but not a damn thing to show for it. This year will most likely be no different. We'll win a few games we should lose and lose a few games we should win. Just another year w/0 a SB appearance but that won't stop Rex from selling the team to the public. That's what Rex does.
Simply put...I love when anyone and I mean anyone on the jets talks smack...Guys it's football...dam some of u guys sound soft... Just Man up!
I never bought into the bulletin board hype. You can go through any coach's press comments and find similar statements. The difference is that Rex is NY and the NY media has it in for the Jets. Even if Rex had paragraphs on top of paragraphs of other quotes about specific player positions and schemes, it would all be ignored to headline that ONE comment which in reality all coaches would say to their teams. Like I said, teams motivate themselves in various ways and fire themselves up before games, but if they truly need a Rex quote to play at 100%, then they are fraud and don't belong in the NFL. Hype and motivation can only take you so far. You need to complete passes, get stops, etc etc. Claiming that quotes are suddenly going to make the opposition execute better on the field is asinine. Teams don't fear other teams and act scared. They game plan to beat them. Some defenses you have to prepare harder for than others. Rex's D is one of those. Ask Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers. That's just the simple truth of the matter.
do u not remember the 2nd game againt ej..the first time we played us it was his 4th game... the 2nd time he shreded us with his #4 wr
This article smells of the pre-season. It's usually paired with the rags to riches UDFA tale and the [insert player name here] visiting terminally ill kids story. How many days until the Oakland game?
I love Rex and it's nice to see bits of old rex coming back, that tells me he is confident in this team.
Oh yes Vegas over/under is 7 for us which came out today. Jeez your homerism IMHO is disgraceful. For once move from your NYJ fantasy land to NYJ realty land for once in your lifetime
That's good news, last year it was 6 1/2 and we won 8, so we should win 9 games this year and compete for a WC spot. Thanks for the optimism Champ!
No matter what positives that may come out about the jets; or for the jets there will just be those so pessimistic; so blind they cant even enjoy whats going on.
Whoopee wow so we make the POs & immediately get evicted so another year has gone by & zero SBs which for U will now be how many years since U last saw the, win a SB?
LOL that has nothing to do with respect or being scared. NFL teams consist of professional players. They don't get "scared." Our secondary was weak last year and they exploited it. It's called game planning. They obviously knew they couldn't just run the ball down our throats as that was the meat of the D. It's not like they go into the game thinking it will be easy. They took advantage of our weak safeties and injured DBs. It was a good game plan. If it was our 2012 D or 2009 D I'm sure the plan would have been much different. If you have given up on the Jets, then why are you still posting on a Jets fan website? It's a bit fallacious to hold the current Jets administration accountable for the mistakes of the past. Yes, there have been many very bad years, but using them as ammo to fight against Idzik and Rex (and even Woody Johnson)with is a bit unfair. All that matters is where the team goes from here. Going on and on and on about the past means absolutely nothing. Winning a superbowl is a rare thing. Many teams in the NFL haven't even been to the big game yet. It could be way worse. The Jets appear to be headed in a good direction.
I have given up financially supporting the team, yes. I have given up to the point where it doesn`t mean much if the Jets win. What I haven`t given up on is, the internet stuff. I enjoy it and I still have $0.02 to throw in every once in awhile. I don`t hold the past Jets accountable for anything that has taken place since Woody got a hold of the team. How long has he been the owner now? Almost 20 years is it? Since he took over, the Jets still don`t have a home of their own. They have only won their division 2x. I`ll give Woody credit for that at the least. But is that good enough for the new fans? I would hope not. It`s been 12 years since they last won the division. It`s not funny, ya know. The fans are financially segregated which is NOT a good thing. ANY segregation of any kind is not good imho. Even the tailgating is financially segregated. WTF? The new Giants Stadium totally sucks aside from a few properly priced sections. We were completely lied to by the Jets & Giants about the new Giants Stadium. It was supposed to be the "best stadium ever built". Instead, it is one of the worst stadiums. No justification on my end to continue on supporting them, especially when the majority of the fans are not happy in that stadium. I sat in the UD for the first season it opened. Fans upstairs wouldn`t even bother cheering because no one can hear them that high up. The UD and Mezz was supposed to be "on top of the game" as we were told. Instead, those sections couldn`t be further away from the action. It was a stadium the Giants wanted, not the Jets. Why Woody let them do that is beyond me. I would have told the Giants to shove it up their asses first off and continued leasing the old stadium from NJ until a proper stadium could be built there or anywhere else for that matter. It doesn`t matter anymore to me. I`ve removed myself from the Jets games after attending for 27 years. It was a fun day out when it was much cheaper and no segregation.
