I'm not sure what he's supposed to do. Matt Cassell just hasn't been very good for a long time, if ever. Manuel hasn't lived up to his draft status, and just hasn't been very good, period. Matt Simms is Matt Simms. Rex picked the guy who was playing the best. If the shit fits, wear it.
You think Fitzpatrick is a "proven and talented" NFL QB? There is a reason he has already played for half the teams in the league and has an overall losing record in the NFL.
Last year while in Houston, he finished with 2400+ yards, 17 TD, and a 95.3 rating. He was released due to injury. Yes, he's a proven talented QB. Is he a Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, no, far from it, but he's a proven guy in the NFL who has had success and has the talent to be very good. That's more than any QB on the Bills roster could say. Way more
I totally disagree, the only way the jets got to back to back title games was with defense, it had absoultely nothing to do with Sanchez although you could make a case for Thomas Jones adding a lot to it.
Defense had a huge role but the running game, as you mentioned, was huge, our offensive weapons were very good, and our offensive line was incredible. All of which had a lot to do with our success
As long as you don't include the QB I might agree. in 2009 Sanchez threw for less than 2500 yards with 12 TDs, 20 INTs and 10 fumbles in 2010 he threw for less than 3300 yards with 17 tds, 13 ints and 9 fumbles That is not the kind of QB play that gets you one game from the superbowl.
Of course not but the stars need to align for success like that, which they did for us. We had the luck of having both Jones and LT explode for a ton of yardage. We had an offensive line with numerous pro bowl talents on it. We had an amazing defense that not only held down receivers but got to the QB. That's not what buffalo has. Nowhere near it. They have a very good defense. They don't have an incredible run game, they don't have an offensive line filled with studs, and they don't have a QB.
This board will bash everything Rex does moving forward just like every former NYJ player, coach or exec so not surprised to hear this reaction. Gutsy move, thought it'd be Cassel but Taylor is having a great camp. What happened to Rex being too loyal to the vets? DERP
They don't have an incredible run game but they have the potential to have one. Like the Jets, we won't know what they are until the season progresses .
I for one think it's the right move, kid looks poised and makes some very strong and accurate throws, especially the out route. can play from under center and the shotgun formation, he also looks like he can read the defenses, looks through progression. If I were some of you guys, I would watch some videos of him before saying he sucks, I understand that pre season is vanilla, but he will have a good running game and a good OC to guide him this year. Rex hired a good OC in buffalo and that should take some of the heat off this kid, and as much as I don't like Rex, I can't believe that he did not learn anything from his previous HC experience.
I'm a Virginia Tech fan. I've seen a lot of him and I hope he does well. But I'm pretty sure I know what he's doing and it's not going to keep working for long.
I don't think he's actually reading the defense he's just looking the db's off from where he already decided to throw.
This says a lot to me about a offer the falcons gave him http://m.nydailynews.com/sports/foo...cons-led-rex-ryan-bills-job-article-1.2074037
