With this shortened offseason I would expect nothing else. If Vlad were to be starting I would fear for Mark's life. Vlad was very raw, and this lockout probably hurt him more than anyone else on the team. At least Kyle was working out with Revis.
I struggle to read??? to quote Ignatius, since he beat me to it Apparently you struggle with putting your thoughts out here clearly... that being said, I'll take the coaching staffs view on this any day of the week, and 7 times a Sunday before I even consider your opinion or your disappointment...
It's what I predicted... HUnter at RT and Ducasse will prob get Hunter's old role of the OL in jumbo packages... it's a good way to start getting some playing time for big Vlad. At this point I wonder if his future might be at RG when Moore calls it a day (or when we release him).
That is actually the same thing, the disappointment is that he isn't competing. try reading slower. You don't think the CS is disappointed he's not competing? You don't think they'd prefer more competition? You are being silly here.
I'm a little disappointed in this - I was hoping Vlad could at least compete for the spot. I'd like to see what Hunter's contract looks like, I wonder if we have an out next year or if Vlad is going to be relegated to backup until Moore retires
Hunter faced guys like Woodley and Peppers late last season and proved he was capable. I believe the OL will be fine with him at RT.
Nailed it. So Ducass will most likely revert back to RT to replace Hunter in the next couple of years. Don't forget we have a starter for 31 other teams on our backup rotation in Rob Turner. I would suspect they will utilize both Turner and Ducass in the full run packages where they need an extra road grader out on the line.
That's what gives me hope, Ryan said he was the best backup OL in the NFL last year and he handled his own in those games he played but 16 games is a different level then filling in for a few games. I hope he plays well because if he does our OL won't miss a beat. Honestly I could care less who is starting as long as it's the player that gives us the best chance to win but if Ducasse is in the same situation next year it's going to be very very frustrating.
This guy was around for OTA's, training camp, film sessions, extensive coaching, practice, game days, etc., all of last year so lets not act like he has been the team for only 4 months. The fact he ha already been declared a backup BEFORE they even put pads on is very disppapointing and says a lot. Make all the excuses you want but this is not a good sign.
Why would are the Jets telling the media who the starters are going to be? I don't understand the rationale for that.
It would be much more concerning if he was drafted as a player expected to step in and be NFL ready. The minute he was drafted it was known that he was a project. He just lost out on his entire 2nd off season. You can pretend that losing all the time with coaches isn't a big deal but it is.
I actually love this move. I wanted to resign Hunter all offseason on the cheap because I thought he was more than capable of being our RT. I'm pretty sure he didn't allow a sack last year when he filled in for Woody. Plus, he's pretty good against the run.
When Hunter came into a game as the starter last year and wasn't a mid-game replacement for Woody he played pretty damn well.. That coupled with Ducasse having no offseason to work with Callahan and still being pretty raw means this was pretty much a slam dunk move imo.
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. We knew he would be a project and to start on our O line would be tough after 1 year for anyone coming out of college. If he is not starting next year or at least considered to start next year then I will start to be more worried about his progress.
