Yeah, seriously. How are the fans accountable for the jets incompetence? Don't digest the drivel?

Worst PR campaign ever. "Stop paying attention to the dumb shit we do, or you are not a real fan!"

First of all, I never said anyone "wasn't a real fan." I'm not even sure what a "real fan" would look like. But beyond that, you're kind of making my point for me. Not that I ever think it will change, but yeah, I would say the fans are accountable for thinking a coach's tattoo is "incompetent" or "dumb shit" in the first place.

If this were about the personnel moves/player signings... if it were about play calling or execution... if it were about the butt fumble... fine. I get all of that.

But this? It's a non-story. It's the sports equivalent of watching the E channel. Congratulations.

Close this thread after this post. Nothing else needs to be said. Great job.

Agreed here. The kind of people who buy into this bullshit help perpetuate the "circus." The Jets fans who buy into this shit ARE the circus. No other head coach has EVER had to deal with the shit Rex has. This goes way beyond football, the lack of ethics are profound with these reporters. Playing/coaching in New York has become totally absurd. "Greatest city in the world" my ass. More like most fickle and totally thoughtless. It doesn't matter what you think of Rex as a HC, there are more important things than football, and the breaching of another mans privacy is out of line.

Edit: Just read cappys post and I agree with Joe Willy white shoes, he said it all.

How is a man getting a tattoo of his wife doing stupid shit? It is nobodys business anyway. Do you watch a lot of Access Hollywood, because this is not football relevant.

No you didn't, but what you said was as outlandish in my opinion. And I'm speaking to all of this team's shenanigans this year, not just the tattoo. But while I think he has every right to be creepy in his personal life, given his position with the team, and the fact that the tattoo bears a likeness to one of my brand elements (the jersey), I could see the team taking issue with it. I bet in this day and age, regular joes would get fired for something like that.

People are still talking about a tattoo? I hope his next tattoo is of Bill Belichick getting anally raped by Tebow while Brady licks his nuts. That ought to create a real buzz.

Meh. As I said above, welcome to the sports equivalent of the E channel. Maybe we can talk about Sanchez's girlfriends and/or his Saturday night outfits next week.

The larger point is that the beat writers are gossip columnists more than journalists and the fans are behaving more like fourteen-year-old junior high school girls than fans of a sports team.

It's not just about the stupid shit that goes on. It's about the fans' level of interest in said stupid shit. It's kinda pathetic.

What would Lombardi have thought about all of this nonsense?

I think people are taking this too seriously. Above all things, this is a game used for entertainment purposes by people who have enough time on their hands to watch men throw a ball around and run with it while being chased.

So to answer your question, who cares what he would have thought.

I think if was a prank and not something he did a couple years ago, it shows that Rex still hasn't figured out how to make good responsible decisions and that these things show a bad light on the organization.

It also make his wife look bad.

I never said getting a tattoo was stupid. But since you brought it up...

What's "stupid" is ducking out of town without giving the league required press conference. That's what started all the scrutiny. Do you think newspapers follow every coach on vacation? After 4 years Rex doesn't understand that he's the face of an NFL team in a large market and that is actions, both on and off the field, are going to be scrutinized.

I don't have time to address all the football stupidity that Ryan and the Jets have displayed this year in detail. There's some actual relevant games being played right now by teams that win games no matter what happens off the field.

    Amazing ain't it?
Shows how many people color between the lines.

    Fuck that.
Who gives a rats ass about his feet, tatts, weight?
Can't believe people are really bothered by it.

"Oh, but as the head and society says..."
    Fuck what society says!

What do you even know about Lombardi?

Lombardi would be run out of town on a rail for his treatment of head injuries in this day and age. He purposefully sent players with concussions into Oklahoma drills and further injured their heads, then joked about it afterwards.

He was what he was in his day, but asking what he would think of ANYTHING in today's NFL is asinine.

For those of you scoring at home, the creepy Rex lovers are blaming the media for all our problems.

    LMAO!!!

    Rex Homers crack me up.

Message to Rex Homers - Rex may have the right to get whatever tattoo he wants put on his body. But guess what? We have a right to our opinions about whatever Ryan does. Particularly if it -

    1. Has anything to do with the Jets. Is is not news that he has a tattoo involving not the team logo, or some general team reference, but the jersey for Mark Sanchez? That doesn't mean anything? Really?

    2. Has anything to do with the way Ryan has shown loyalty to Sanchez. When he arguably should not have, at least past a certain point.

    3. Shows favoritism by picking out a single player on his team.

    4. Shows questionable judgment. What is the purpose of a tattoo, anyway? What is the purpose of THIS tattoo?

    5. Shws that Rex is a weirdo. Is it not of some relevance that Rex is a weirdo? Let me make that clear - a weirdo whose team has lost 13 of their last 19 games? Sure, a winning weirdo like Belichik is a different story. Welcome to the real world.

So all you Rex Homers can whine about the media. You can say tattoos don't mean anything, and that Ryan has a right to put any tattoo on himself he chooses, and meanwhile his doubters have no right to say anything about it. You can blame anybody and everybody other than Ryan for the clownishness of all this.

And, by doing so, you get a charter membership in the Rex Homer Club. Congratulations.

Well, when you think about it, the Jets don't really have a home field advantage because the fans are all butt hurt and angry at the team. There is barely any crowd noise, except the fans cursing out the players. Even the friggin garbage Raiders have a loud crowd every week, despite being out of contention since halfway through the season. Those are FANS. They are dedicated despite not always having a good season. They want to WIN, not tank for a draft pick. They are loud and distract opposing QBs. They even support their head coach and quarterback! I WISH our fans could do that.
