The man's last real, full meal was spent trying to talk LT into coming to the Jets. That's some extra dedication

This... he can be followed by the best nutritionists and trainers in NY and he decides that an operation is better?! WTF!?

Weis' procedure was a gastric bypass. Not at all similar, other than that both treat weight. Weis' op was far more serious.

She died on the operating table. The doctors basically killed her, then tried to cover it up and it took them over 12 hours to finally tell my girlfriends family what really happened.

I don’t know much about medical operations, and I was not with her at the time, but I know from her stories that they forgot to put the tube down her throat to keep her breathing while the procedure was being done.

She wasn’t even that overweight, that’s the sad part.

    I've been thinking about this.

If Rex turns out to be the best coach the Jets have ever had, and then he drops dead from a heart attack, it would blow.

    Good for him being preemptive.

Can we start a vBookie bet on how much weight he'll lose before the season? I'm thinking he drops 50-75# before the regular season.

I missed the part where he also had a hernia repaired too. They kind of crammed it in the middle of the article.

    Good for Rex.

I had mine the day before Thanksgiving 2008.

I lost a 100 in about 16 months so far. Another 50 to go.

It's easier to put the burger down, but when you don't, you can do drastic, dangerous surgery.

For pre-admission, I had to meet with a dietitian. It was a group meeting with other fatties. For the first time in my life, I was the skinny one in the room. They tell you that you have to go on a liquid diet for a week before surgery. One dude asked if Wendy's frostys were liquid. Another asked if he could mix syrup from a can of fruit with sprite. OThers in the room chimed in that was awesome.

The fattest dude fell asleep in the meeting.

Then we all had to take an elevator downstairs to get weighed in. Nothing more fun than riding an elevator with 6 other lap-band candidates.

I hope him trying to get skinny does not get in the way of his coaching.

If he tries to eat a 3 foot hero and starts throwing up for hours everyday we are doomed.

As long as this does not have a negative impact on our team I'm okay with the move.

Funny. I'd have paid to see that. I might have even chimed in with a few other questions (blenderized cheeseburger? Straight up Crisco?)

Just out of curiosity, did you ever try exercising and dieting?

Is your skin loose and floppy? I hate watching those shows about teens getting this surgery, they're freaking teenagers and they can't even try and run/swim/ or even walk briskly.

Good luck to Rex. Glad to see he is taking action. Though this does sound like a risky procedure.

I tried everything. The most I lost in one diet was 40 pounds, back in the 90's. I've been overweight my whole life. But it's OK, I think fatties suck too.

There is no loose skin for me after 100 pounds. The weight loss is slow so your body had time to react (I guess) I do exercise daily now.

I know several other fatties who have had gastric bypass, and they've eaten their way through it. IOW, they got fat again. As much as I agree we just need to put the cheeseburger down, to be able to eat past an operation is not just laziness. It's sick. The Lap band can be adjusted as you lose weight and your stomach shrinks. Basically, if I eat too much, I throw up. I can drink tons of beer while I watch Jets games though, so I'm ok with it.

Seriously, that meeting was a joke, and it summed up the reason why all of those pecker heads were huge. Is Ice cream liquid? Can we eat soup with crackers and chicken in it?
