Can you quote for me word for word what Rex's reply was to Braylon when he mumbled something like "ummm, eehhh, yeah if we kick a FG then geta TD we win"

Looked and sounded to me like Rex had his thumb up his ass AND LIKED IT!

Rex is the man. He is still learning a few things.

I have no long term concerns with his head coaching skillset.

If any one of us walked around with mic's on us as much as Rex does I bet we would end up with tons of clips where we looked dumb. He is human and ended up making the right decision whether he was influenced by Braylon or not it really doesn't matter.

    Well, it's settled then.

If Braylon Edwards isn't retained as a WR for next year, he has to be made an assistant coach.

    Hey...

I'm coming from the Point of View in My World where REX RYAN IS GOD.....

I haven't complained 1 bit about anything he has done except maybe a clock issue here or there....

My thing with this was that this is the 1st chink in the armor and bit of doubt at all for me....

Disagree if you want but, i don't see Bellichik or Coguhlin listening to a Braylon Edwards and changing their minds....

just didn't seem Head Coach-like to me....

You shouldn't be comparing Rex to Belichick. Ever.

I love Rex just as much as any Jets fan, but he has only a small fraction of the coaching abilities that Belichick does. Rex has even admitted as much.

Belichick lives and breathes football, and has really made coaching a science. While Rex is a great defensive mind, has the passion and personality you want in a HC, he is not in Belichick's league. No one is.

All that said, I'd still take Rex over any other coach in the league, ATM. And as a previous post mentioned, our offense has absolutely sucked that past month, so I am not at all surprised that he was totally indecisive.

I'm not worried about that, it's more the clock mgmt stuff, when to challenge, when to attempt long FGs(I think he made great decisions last week in regards to FGs), the disorganization of the defense which forces us to waste TOs. My biggest problem would be the challenges and the D wasting TOs.

    Very True...

Except for the fact that we can watch this show almost every night and compare a HC to all the other HC's and how they handel snap on the field decision making.... not you or I.

I can not quote him word for word, I did not over think this scenario. I was more impressed with Braylon than I was worried about Rex.

Like I said earlier, it's a tough call and in the end it all worked out. If Rex was so inept we wouldn't be headed towards our 2nd consecutive playoff birth. I and every other Jet fan knows that Rex still has some things to learn as a HC, especially with the offense.

Give Rex Tom Brady on this team and we are undefeated.

A coach should NEVER let a player take a decision like that (maybe the QB).
Coaches coach and take decisions... players play! I do't care if Edwards showed leadership... no player should feel like they can take decisions like that off the HC hands.

If we hadn't gotten that 1 yd we'd all be screaming Rex should but a foot up his ass (see what I did there?).

Btw Jet Blue you broke the first rule of TGG... criticising Rex... you knew this was coming ;)

I thought it was great. Braylon was screaming "don't second guess coach!! Let's ride with them!!!" and they did.

Yeah go ahead and compare him to other HC's they all have moments where they sound dumb and indecisive too. You just don't notice or don't care because it isn't your teams HC.

Jesus Christ he was fucking talking to Schotty on the sidelines. He said if it was a full yard we kick. It wasn't a full yard. He asked Schotty if he thinks it will work and Schotty said yes.......... then Braylon said, " lets go for it coach............we can do it!"

Their mind was made up before Braylon came over.

If you are going to love the fact that he is a players coach and they love to play for him......
Dont be mad when an actual player comes up to him to voice their opinion.

I see typical same old Jets fan bullshit here. Love Rex for being a fun players coach. Then because the players trust him and have a voice within the organization, they use that capital and "Oh Nose" we don't like Rex anymore..............

Clock management is separate issue from this...........

...you sure know more about coaching than Rex Ryan.

Edwards didn't make the decision. Ryan did. He'd be the fall guy if they stopped us.

Ryan was indecisive because points don't come easy against the Steelers.

Sometimes you have to take what you can get in this league.
