The Patriots have the worst pass defense in the NFL presently! Why are we going to run "60" times? They can be beat with the pass. A proper mixture would do them in. Without Mayo we should be able to ruin for first downs all game long! but to crush them, we should use the pass due to that wretched secondary play.

From what I quoted from the press conference above (Rex's words).... Cimni is full of shit.

    Imagine that.

    And another thing...

We need to make a 1st down before 14:50 into the 1st quarter. If we get off to another slow start against this team we're screwed.

Its been awhile KJ. Hope all is well man. I agree with everything you said but you know Schotty as well as I do. Schotty will devise a script and stick to it come hell, high water, or 2 qtrs w/o a 1st down. This is the wrong week to try and bring back GnP but knowing Rex and our CS, that's exactly what will be tried and with this POS OLine sans Mangold, it will fail once again.

FTR, we've only played ONE good game this year. Amazing..

Ryan is delusional if he thinks he can talk Wayne Hunter into being a decent right tackle at this point. They made a mistake there. Going to the run game may minimize the mistake but they're still going to have to pass the ball when Hunter is on the field and he limits what they can do without getting Sanchez killed.

Slauson is serviceable but nothing more than that. He's also weaker in pass protection than as a run blocker and with Hunter out there every passing down is going to be an adventure with potential broken bones at the end of it for Sanchez.

This is sad because I have no doubt that Ryan thinks the problems are fixable outside of personnel changes, but they really aren't. The Jets offensive line is going to be either mediocre or terrible this year depending on whether or not Mangold is there to call the blocking assignments and hold things together.

The only real hope the Jets have to make a dent in the line problem this year is if Colin Baxter turns out to be good enough to play LG for them with Ferguson and Mangold helping him out. Then they can try Slauson at RT and hope he is better than Hunter.

Belichik will have to double up on Plaxico. I expect the other wideouts and Keller to have a phenominal day. Use the pass to set up the run, especially in the 4th Q.

But Sanchez has to have a little more time... just a half second will do... so that his accuracy isn't out the fucking window like it was on Sunday night. If our O-line can do this, we can beat this team by running up the score early and often:

    Jets 31
    Pats 20

Workout went well but no signing imminent for TE Brandon Manumaleuna, source says. #nyj

Stupid imo... if he's healthy he would really help solidifying our OL as a hardcore blocking TE...

I really dont mind going back to GnP, especially if it keeps Brady off the field.

Run up the score by going deep and let our DEF keep Brady off the field... that's their job. Weasely Welker is the problem. Put a couple of LBs on him and cripple the little weasel every time he pops up out of his little hole. I want this guy decapitated.

I am in not any way comfortable in getting into a shootout with Tom Brady.

Think Rex is one of those glass half-full kind of guys. Since it's too late to make dramatic talent upgrades on the O-Line, he'll build up everyone's confidence and try to do what can maximize its effectiveness. This offseason, he'll spend more time thinking WTF happened & push to get talent upgraded there.

Hopefully, just moving forward & trying to knock down a defender will be more manageable than trying to maintain pass-protection. If the power running fails, at least more of Sanchez big hits will be transferred to the RB position where guys can be rotated.

You'll be plenty uncomfortable then, because that's unfotunately what every Pats game is all about.

Decapitate the little weasel and you choke off the head of the snake.

Obviously a good mix of pass and run is needed but maybe if we can get a nice rhythm with our passing game then it may open things up for the run.

The limitation though on glass half-full in this case is that maybe the Jets can't afford to have a tackle as bad as Wayne Hunter on the same field with their franchise QB.

Maybe what Ryan should be doing is turning over every rock he can find looking for a RT instead of pretending that Hunter is acceptable and talking him up, which has the dual effect of keeping Hunter on the field and convincing Ryan himself that this is doable right up until the moment Sanchez breaks something and every thing goes to hell in a handbasket for this team.

This is true however Sanchez is still going to get clocked a couple of times a game because even in ground and pound the Jets are going to be throwing the ball 25-30 times a game and Hunter still can't pass block effectively on those plays.

It's not really a glass half full/half empty situation. It's more of a zero sum thing where Wayne Hunter downs on pass protection = Mark Sanchez getting knocked down hard.

And unfortunately, this will be the blueprint for all the other teams we encounter this year, including the Pats this weekend.

But the Pats aren't the Baltimore Ravens, and neither are many of the other teams we face. So maybe, just maybe, we pull out a 9-7 season.

Seriously... someone please explain to me why our O line has no depth. Is the free-agency market for O linemen that scare and shitty? I'd have to suggest as much. Starting a rookie center vs. the Ravens?

Vlad "the Turnstile" sucks, but anyone with half a brain already knew that a long time ago. Losing Turner hurt, as did losing Mangold (hopefully he'll be back to full strength this weekend).

Surely Mike T., Rex, and Woody could have prepared much better for the possibility of injury on the OL, the wellspring of every successful running AND passng game (esp. with a still-shaky 3rd-year QB). Didn't all of our injuries from last season teach us anything?

Let's crush 'em this weekend... it's a no-brainer we'll need to ably defend Welker-Brady slants and their TEs' routes. We slapped them in the mouth last time we played... so why not again?!

with the current o-line and oc, the ground and pound is more like the leak and creek.

if you have to move slauson to center, why not stick the guy they traded the 6th round pick to green bay for at guard? frankly, the only hope for vlad is to keep him learning at rt, where he played in college. the question nobody is asking is why were the ravens able to bring in a center cut by dallas and a tackle cut by minny to fix their o-line while tanny did nothing? he gets paid just like ozzie newsome, doesn't he!

F*** that. We're better than a game above .500. I'll never be too proud to appreciate getting help in making the playoffs, but there's no need yet to expect we can't win our division or get a wild-card berth.

Outside of the 2006 the OL has largely been ignored this entire century. We had such good young players that we let go and never really replaced them (Kerry Jenkins, Randy Thomas & Kareem McKenzie). It's been extremely frustrating to watch this happen over the years. We have spent late round draft picks on guys for depth that never panned out (at least not here i.e. Jonathan Goodwin). ETA - we got lucky with Brandon Moore.
