In terms of IQ Richie is not a moron. He is actually well spoken. He was able to meet with the Pegulas and Rex and talk them into signing him. He came across to them as very apologetic and sincere. Don't you know these are the traits of a compulsive personality. They can turn it on and off but overall they're the same despicable person. Ted Bundy was a charmer, too. Historically this guy has been poison every stop of the road. So if Rex is lax on this things could get out of hand fast and you could end up with the same thing.
I don't personally see why it's a bad signing. He doesn't have an addiction or an alcohol problem. He's a jerk, and if his legal troubles clear then he's actually a pretty good signing knowing that he can't mess up again or he's out of the league. I always thought Martin was a big wuss in the whole situation. Not to say Incognito was right in the situation but I don't think it needed to be a gigantic investigation ending in a year long suspension. I think Martin hurt his career just as much especially the perception his teammates probably have of him or will have of him in the future. The whole idea of "I need to watch what I say around this guy" is a very poor stigma to have in the locker room when going to battle together.
