He is that way because he KNOWS he is going to get fired and wants to present a "passable" image of himself to future prospective teams. Rex Ryan will not be a HC in the NFL again....he cannot develop QB's, he is scattershot in personnel moves, and he is a dinosaur that thinks defense can win in the NFL with little input from the offense. This team has gone steadily DOWNHILL since 2010, and Rex should have been canned along with Tannenbaum. THAT mistake should be rectified after this 4-12 debacle is finished.
beginner my a$$ I was a jet fan when Namath wore pantyhose FYI. I am NO beginner here dude, I have seen it all and you should keep your opinions of others to yourself.
What's a message board without opinions? If you think Rex is one of the worst HCs for the Jets ever after 4 road playoff victories, I would love to see what you consider a great Jets HC other then Weeb Ewbank. Or maybe you are losing brain matter - hell if I know. Oh let's change HCs every 4 years, no wonder we are in a 40 year + drought. Take your darksider bullshit else-where, AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT
You just made most of my argument. Who has been responsible for the "talent" acquired by the T-Rex combination? Well, the T is gone, leaving just REX.
And how about a quick f*ck you a$$hole. Take your condescending attitude back to freakin Jersey wipe.
And oh, BTW 101 Rex WILL be fired after this season. That you can take to the bank. For Christ sakes even HE knows it. I don't advocate changing coaches every four years, just bad ones.
But I am sure you wouldn't say the team went downhill because the QB became absolute garbage since 2010, with 52 turnovers in that time, had anything to do with it, am I right?
:rofl2: awesome He believes he will be here for the long-run. Rex won't give up on the season. We have a coach that can coach a defense up and make it a top 10 defense. We have an offensive coordinator that has proven results on building an explosive offensive. Put that together and you got yourself something special in the coming years. It's painfully obvious that with talent Rex will coach this team to the playoffs and win a playoff game. Jets win 6-8 games and if the team shows up - Rex will be extended. Reload the offense in the next draft and we will be back to winning playoff games AGAIN with Rex Ryan. You can take that to the bank. Wait why did that guy get banned? I was just getting started ...
Rex is calling Defensive plays so that when he is canned at the end of the season his resume is current when he goes to another team in the DC role which he is indeed suited for. He is a hell of a DC. He is a putrid HC. Name call all you want rex apologists but that is the facts.
GREAT JOB! A whole bunch of nothing per usual from you. How's that shit-filled dinner of yours? This thread is a joke - no one STILL has addressed who should replace Rex. Just a bunch of name calling and finger pointing.
Our passing D has carried the defense the last 4 years in pass heavy league. Thurman is partially responsible for that. When Cromartie came to the Jets, he wasn't nearly the physical dominating player he is now. Thurman should get credit for turning him from an irresponsible immature guy susceptible to big mistakes, to a dominating pro bowl CB who's become a locker room leader as well. He also helped coach & develop Revis who became one of the best CBs to ever play the game. Thurman being promoted most certainly is not to create a fall out guy and it certainly was NOT a mistake. He earned it. Anyways, people were saying that Thurman wasn't ready to be a HEAD COACH like the one dude suggested; not that he wasn't ready to be a DC. It's his first year on the job, and Rex is helping him learn the ropes. When Rex handed the defense to Pettine in 2011 + 2012, we saw a decline. Rex is probably hoping he can turn it over to Thurman in a couple years as he did with Pettine, minus the decline. As usual with Rex, people read way too much into a situation like this. Perfect example is Sean Payton. He has a great offensive mind and calls offensive plays for the Saints. Does that mean they should not have hired an OC or that their existing OC is not ready? Of course not, it's because Sean Payton's strength is running the offense and they are using it to their advantage, just like Rex with the defense. You don't see people calling Payton a glorified OC or some other cheesy catch phrase like that.
Um, slander much? You are wrong, he is one of the BEST coaches the Jets have ever had. BEST as in second only to Parcells. No other Jets coach has had that much success and a winning percentage that high, or had that much post season success. You are faulting Rex for offensive production rather than the actual offensive coaches responsible for Sanchez' development and you know... actually COACHING THE OFFENSE? Sparano was a mistake, sure. Let me guess. You joined August of 2013? Another troll. Too funny how these guys keep appearing out of the woodworks and bash bash bash away. Go back to the phins. at saying Rex should be fired because he can't develop QBs!!! Maybe you've heard of Matt Cavanaugh, you know, the guy who was brought in specifically to develop Sanchez? The same guy that had 4 years to focus on that ONE TASK but failed miserably as Mark kept making rookie mistakes 4 years deep. Nah, the problem is that Rex didn't develop the QBs properly!!! Fire him!
I said before they won the SB and before they got Flacco,Rice,Pitta,Boldn etc etc.. I mean in between from 2003-2011 when their offense was so inept that they won games just because of defense. Rex is like a coaches version of ray lewis. Guy just needs some offense any offense and the jets are in the SB. Delusional? Maybe. But that's because I am biased towards my team.
Rex is not just a great D.C. How many great co-ordinators became head coaches and fell flat on their asses ? Too many to post. Marty got his shot to coach. How did he make out? So did Nolan,Marvin,Del Rio and even Rex's own father the great buddy ryan. How many of those guy's took their team to back to back ACCG'S their first 2 seasons with a rookie QB ?
Last time I looked, he is only coaching against one of those guys now. This might be like saying that Laurel and Hardy are smarter than the Three Stooges. Or that Danny DeVito is taller than Tom Thumb.
What speaks volumes to me is the fact his DC and long time friend jumped ship to take the same job on a worst team.
FYI, bunch, and I mean a lot, of rumors and things swirling that Mike leaving was not just a normal move. Allegedly, he was Mehta's anonymous source and the Jets didn't want him back anyways. So it doesn't speak anything if the rumors aren't true, the guy is trying to get out of Rex's shadow. Any good the defense would do as DC, would be given to Rex, not Mike.
You're trying to talk sense to someone with a picture of an adolescent girl with a pacifier in her mouth.......
i think they had a falling out. i mean, why else would pettine go to a rival team? i dont think its impossible that rex said some shit to pettine, cause you know, rex is a loudmouth, and he and pettine probly got into it over the run defense or something and then the mehta shit came up and that was it. just pure specultion by me but, it seems possible haha
