However, when his health is in question this year and with many people thinking that this might be the key campaign (Cromartie, Holmes, Edwards, Harris aren't signed for next year, JT has big dollars coming his way if he isn't renegotiated) people are bound to be nervous.
That's just it though, the Jets planned this entire season around Revis being the centerpiece of what was supposed to be a legendary defense. Regardless of how his holdout was handled I wonder if the jets would've went in another direction knowing what they know now. Meaning maybe they sign a dominant pass rusher at DE/LB, or use their first pick on one. Rex's Jet defense is built on quality DB's, but the scheme he ran in Baltimore was more reliant on the front 7, rightfully so. I know having a Ed Reed doesn't hurt either. Fans have the right to be annoyed, but I agree that we should temper that until we see him at 110%.
I think this is the key point. In my opinion, I think Revis is having a little trouble with the pressure and scrutiny he brought on himself. I still think he's a hell of a player, and the team needs him badly. At the same time I think Rex even implied this somewhere but I can't remember exactly where i read it, that Revis is now too worried about getting beat. He compounded the hold out issues by talking too much, particularly about Moss. It's time for him to quiet down, heal up and play like he's capable of. If he gets to top form i think we'll see the defense give up less yards in the passing game, and those third down conversion %'s for opponents will drop too. That said I think he should sit this weekend.
Tough break that he'll be missing a few more games, but I'd rather he take the time needed and be back down the stretch and in the playoffs. The team has done well without him so far, so I just hope that they can continue winning while he's on the sidelines.

To further this point, pretty much any CB in the NFL is going to get beat sometimes, that's the nature of the position, and when you get beat it's going to make the highlights. Revis has set the bar high by his performance last year, the holdout and the talking, so that magnifies it even more. Doesn't change the fact that the NFL being the best of the best and the rules slanted to favor the passing game, he's going to get beat here and there. So far he's been torched by Tom Brady-to Randy Moss and Brett Favre-to-Percy Harvin, not exactly Manny, Moe and Jack.
If Revis didn't re-aggravate his hamstring, then he will be fine. At this point, maybe he needs to get into practice and get the work in. He needs to be in NFL shape ASAP.
I think people in general need to put themselves in Revis's position. I think 99% of the people on this board would have held out and pushed for the maximum compensation. I agree that it could have been handled better by Revis and his agents, but I don't get all of the hate directed at him. Anyone here ever have a pulled hamstring? Healing is slow, so let's get him healthy, and yes, let's hope all of this humbles him. Revis looks petty after all of the trash talk against Moss in light of the fact that Moss has been classy in his interviews. If I were him, I would have been ripping Revis for looking like a slouch in the 2nd half of the game, regardless of whether Revis was hurt or not.
Maybe we should just practice him and not play him against the Broncos. That way he'll have two weeks to practice without having to exert himself.
Yea, Rex's presser from Monday sounded like it was just normal soreness after missing games and coming back not in game shape. We also haven't heard about him going in for an MRI or anything. He was embarrassed about getting served again when he wore down from not being in game shape and said what he said. This is a nice humbling experience for him.
Good. He looked hungry last year when he played. This year he looks like a slouch who is taking plays off. Sorry that's the truth. Heal up and get healthy for the stretch, Revis.

I don't think it's a matter of healing up, I think it's a matter of getting in game shape. He needs to play, even if only in limited time, to correct that - even if it means getting his feelings hurt from time to time.
