lol - this reminds me of the Jets GM search. Every news outlet is reporting a completely different story. Does anyone have a clue?

Im not sure i bleive him he has been right about alot of things in the past but I think he is just guessing, Since its been put out there that the Bucs would include a first round 2013 pic i think he is just assuming the trade will happend today. Our new DT Antonio Garay was also on the show and he sounds pumped about the upcoming season, He said he thinks the Jets are a playoff team

From the Buc's perspective they have to be asking themselves "Who can we get with the 13 pick who's a ready made top defender in a position of significant need?"

    Answer: Revis Island

Sounds to me like we're fine with keeping Revis unless the compensation is a complete hosing, which is fine by me.

The Bucs should have no problem with the draft pick(s). But they SHOULD have a problem with Darelle's huge contract demands coming off a major knee injury.

And we know from experience Revis won't go quietly. Look how long it took Tanny to get the last deal done and that was when Revis was healthy and Rex was blowing his horn every 5 minutes.

I can see the Bucs struggling for weeks trying to come to terms with Revis.

Riddle me this: What would be worse:

Not trading Revis, then not signing him and watching him walk and get nothing

    OR...

Trading Revis, not getting a 1st in 2013.

Painful either way isn't it. I'm sure this scenario had to be in the Idzik job interview and I would like to think he's planned for this already. I'm sure his first major personnel decision as Jets' GM is going to be a well thought out one. I just hope he doesn't overplay his hand in this.

Idzik: "Good morning Mr Johnson, I have some good news. I wrestled a 1st round pic from the Bucs for Darelle. It's the best situation possible and will help the team."

Woody: "How do you figure it will help the team when 20% of the stadium will be empty???"

Idzik: "Well, I guess I didn't consider that."

That certainly could happen. Like I said, painful choices anyway you look at it.

Fans show up to watch a team win games. They don't show up to watch a team lose just because they have a great CB. Besides, if anyone here really cares about attendance, we should push for us to keep Tebow.

Thank you. The notion that fans won't come to games because we trade Revis is just flat out stupid. If people don't come to games, it's because we're playing bad football and sometimes even then you can draw crowds (see: last year... without Revis... playing terribly).

As far as the Carton thing goes... didn't he "break" the news on one of our signings last week? I wouldn't be shocked if he has an inside source, and I hope his source is right.

    Ha ha ha, riiiiight.
They're pissed off and throwing a temper tantrum because they know they're going to have to sale the farm to get him.

I'll tell you what will be the worse. Us trading Revis getting exactly what we ask for keeping and using all the picks this year just to be in the same good team bad QB boat we've been in.

If this goes down and we don't trade those picks for 2014 picks and move up to get Bridge next year, we'll be back to that same ol team that can't get over the hump.

This team is in dire need of an infusion of talented youth, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Whoever the next QB is will benefit greatly if that happens prior to their arrival.

I love how the Trade Revis crowd just assumes the Jets not only will get a package of draft picks, but they will be home runs all of them.

Name a package of recent Jet picks that together is equal to Revis's quality? Now, name one that is better. Because they will have to be better for the Jets to win more without Revis than with him.

I don't think even going back five years that the Jets have added as much talent in the draft as Revis has.

Not to mention that the Bucs probably don't even want to make a move until they A) have more information about how he is healing and B) have had a chance to speak to his agents on a contract extension. Why make the trade today with uncertainty when a month from now they could get a better idea on his health situation and have more time to work on a contract.

This is typically BS to stir up controversy and get some hits. There's no rush for either party to get it done at this point. Maybe it gets done earlier because the Bucs want to make sure they have that CB position filled instead of someone else swooping in and offering more than they are and losing out. But I don't really think that's too realistic at this point.

Now name me the last team that won rebuilding around a corner that takes up a gigantic chunk of their cap that is coming off a major injury that will be on the downside of his prime by the time the team is good again...

This is true, refer back to the 2nd part of my post #803.

This ^ is the reality. We must not only get good talent out of this we must get talent at the QB position or it's a bust.

I don't think anyone assumes the Jets will get a player of Revis' talent or that all the picks will be home runs.

With the salary cap and now rookie cap in place it seems more important to have as many productive players on their first contract as possible. The 2013 offseason may have somewhat corrected the market on veteran players but I still think that rookie cap is going to cause a big shift in how teams are built.

It may be more important to build a roster of good, easily replaceable players and try to find a great QB and pay him. I'm not sure how important high priced players at other positions are given the recent rule changes and cap adjustments.

The reason this isn't BS is because there is always that team that's willing to go into a situation blind for the high risk high reward. If Revis starts working out and is 100% in a month think about all the competition to get him and how much more they'll have to give up.
