If that's the attitude, it's going to be no thanks. Unless there's another team pursuing Revis that no one knows about, what motivation do they have to offer us that much?
My best friend is a Bucs fan, we just agreed to a trade of Revis for 2014 1st round pick, and 2013 2nd round pick :beer:
That'd be a very good deal for both sides. The Jets would have 9, 39 and 43 to kickstart the rebuild and they'd also have a lottery shot in next year's draft. Bucs would have gone from the worst secondary in the NFC to one of the best in two moves with Goldson and Revis.
Their 2nd this year and 1st next year just makes too much sense for both sides IMO. Just enough for the Jets to take it and seemingly worth it for the Bucs.
I think honestly a 3rd this year, a 6th this year and a 1st next year is fair for all sides....hell throw in Blount and change the 3rd round pick this year to like a 4th and that's still alright. Carson F'N Palmer went for a 1st and 2nd round pick, Alex Smith got the 49ers a top 34 pick and etc.......I get QBs are more desired and valuable but both guys were or are the same age as Revis and Revis is the far better player, even if coming off an injury.
I just don't agree. This move could potentially put them as a legit competitor in the playoffs with a run game, passing game, and solid secondary. The pick compensation would essentially equal what the Jets are demanding, which is their number 13 pick. Not saying it's going to happen, but I think it's solid compensation for both.
The only way we can get that first round pick is if someone else joins in. There's no reason for the Bucs to give us Revis' actual value in picks because they're not bidding against anyone and we've already burned the Revis bridge. If we really want to get a first round pick, we should step completely away from the table and try to manufacture another trade partner or mend the fences with Revis enough so that it at least seems plausible that he could return.

If we don't get a deal done, Revis is definitely returning. He's on contract to be a Jet next year for 6 million, and he can't do anything on his own to change that. I do think having another trading/bidding partner would help, though.
What cards exactly? The Jets have no leverage. We either need to scoop up that 2014 first rounder or just shut down all negotiations until we have even the slightest bit of leverage.
Right now, this is pretty much a worst case scenario for the Jets, forcing Revis to play in New York and then walk for nothing. Every GM in the league is going to know that we don't want that. There's just not enough of a threat of that to provide bargaining power.

They have control of the asset, and can trade him all the way up until week 8. At which time, A team may truly need a CB to make a legitimate run. In addition no bridges have been burnt that can't be paid off.
