Dude, nothing happens in a vaccum.

This is a hard cap league.

You make the move TB just made, because they think hes the missing link.

When they find out hes not....theyll either force him to renegotiate, or cut him the day before the next season. 14,15...not picking a spot...but it defoes logic to think, hes collecting years 4-6.

Our compensation next year is predicated on him being on their roster day 3 of the league year. Did they construct that because they're sure?

He could get hurt, or they can decide the expirement failed.

You dont pay a corner 16M unless you think hes a vital piece to your post season.

I can't believe my Tebow jersey is still relevant at the same time tons of day laborers will be showing up to work in shiny new Revis jerseys off the $5 rack at Goodwill.

Welcome to the board......and I agree. The problem here is almost everybody assumed the Jets were getting three picks and it turns out they got two. I think Idzik did as well as he could here. If he pushed too hard he risked TB walking away and let's face it....I think TB is crazy for paying $16 million. They are not one shutdown CB away from the SB. Besides I think the other shoe will drop before the Jets pick...look for Idzik to trade down and get a couple of more valuable picks.

It was a good deal. It was lemons from lemonade given that Revis was looking for a huge contract coming off of an ACL and the relationship wasn't all that good anyway. The lemonade is sweet also, with the 13 pick.

People who were looking for more picks next year instead of the 13 were looking at a fantasy. Those picks might have been in range to get a great player but they were more likely to be later in the 1st.

Nobody is going to be able to trade up for the Clowney pick next year if he is still looking like he looks now. That's just not happening. If either of the QB's looks like a franchise guy they're going to be next to impossible to trade for either. You'd need a team in the top 2 that also had a franchise QB to make that deal and teams with franchise QB's don't wind up in the top 2 very often.

You are a maniac today with this trade! The jets hand was forced by the price Revis was demanding. If there was not a salary cap Revis would still be in green and white, reality is different however. While you may not like losing your favorite player, he is the reason hes gone. Stop blaming the Jets, they did the right thing.

The wildly different values of 1st round picks (both the year they are in and the location within the 1st round) can't be emphasized strongly enough. 13th overall in a draft that is less than 100 hours away is an extremely strong currency.

It's also very realistic his play will decline with age, regardless of injury or not. CB is a young man's position.

It's silly. The year shouldn't have more value. It just does because teams get desperate and want to improve now. GMs also often are scared they'll get fired if they don't get an impact player right away.

For me, I place no more value on a 2013 #1 than a 2014 #1, and smart teams take advantage of foolish teams when it comes to this.

I would've thought Revis was worth more than the 13th overall pick and a conditional 4th. I would've held onto him.

Revis isn't the last piece to their puzzle, they need a QB still. Even their coach knows they need another QB. They were so awful on pass defense last year they had to address it in a big way.

Provide examples. All that comes to my mind is Champ Bailey and Charles Woodson coasting off reputation and getting toasted.

Either way, nothing a good pass rush can't make up for. Or, you know, a good offense to score points.

No, that's fine, although unnecessary sardonic.
It's about the rest of the things you posted today. Your fascination with Revis has gone beyond any reasonable limits. And so I was thinking maybe you'll move together with Revis island, which you are never leaving.

    Manziel?

    Really?

    No thank you....

I mean the kid makes plays and he wins.
But I think this team is going to have more pressing concerns next year.

More pressing than QB? Barring a miracle I doubt it.
