Are you also of the opinion that a rectangle is a square? Is Ray Lewis a good quarterback? How would calling someone a great football player be a knock? Don't be so sensitive about the Tebow. This entire rant has absolutely nothing to do with what was being discussed. I would like if you could use a few more catch phrases though. Maybe go with the early bird catches the worm or you are what your record says you are next time.
The problem is that anyone that says anything positive about Tebow is labeled a Tebot, fanboy or delusional. What would you call me? creepy and delusional perhaps? (I am not saying you did but just making a point). If you did you would be wrong. Look at what I have said about the sanchez versus Tebow debate outside of this thread...yet I am constantly being called a Tebot or a Tebow fan boy on these forums. here read it:
I agree Elway wanted nothing to do with Tebow but for the reasons I stated. If the media does not go berserk and simply would have treated Tebow as a first time starter that had struggles and some real cool moments then Tebow would still be a Bronco.
They don't care, and they don't see it. The "religion" of being devoted to the idea that Tebow can't play is more ardent than anything. They are forced to put people in a mold, because they are so psychologically invested in Tebow's failure that they can't seem to make sense of the world when people actually seem to think he can play. Meanwhile, guys like Blaine Gabbert or even Sam Bradford can just go about their business of trying to play in this league, which is a hard job by any measure.
What I said definitely has to do with what was being discussed. Not sure why you would discount them. Please re-read my comments.
Reread your comments? We can't ever get through them the first time. Can we stop talking about the backup running back already?
Yeah really fearful of Tim Tebow coming from Denver where he got booted by a HOF QB because he knows as well as anyone he isn't a NFL QB. That QB who completed 46% of his passes is going to come in and take over for a kid who has completed 56% of his passes over his career. Yeah thats going to go over well with jets fans who criticize the chise for his 56% This the same Tim Tebow that was embarassed by a pats team in the playoffs last year? This the same sanchez that has 4 playoff wins including back to back against 2 of the greatest QBs to ever play this game. Smell like fear? I'm a jets fan i want the Jets to win. if its tebow that does that i couldn't care less. I jsut know full well that Tebow will not be the jets starting QB unless sanchez and Mcelroy break their legs this year.
I know bringing up Tebow's completion percentage is popular but he seems to be the only player to not get the benefit of the doubt ( even after going 8-5 after the team was 7-24 and winning a playoff game). Here are other QBs who had low completion percentages in their first year. Tebow has a 47.3% completion percentage in his first 16 starts mind you. QB completion % first year starting (this is just a small quick sample) John Elway 47.5% Eli Manning 48.2% Michael Vick 44.2% Alex Smith 50.9% Matt Scahub 47.1% Donavan McNabb 49.1% So according to detractors , Tebow is the only one that will not be able to improve even though all team mates and coaches ever say is how much he improves and his dedication to improving. it's anti Tebow bias. Blame it on his fans, on his religion, on his wobbly passes or leprechauns riding unicorns..its still bias. Tebow is treated as if he were a 6 year vet and not a first time starter like everyone else.
Let's recap: You see, here's what happened. A poster saw me call the wild cat with tebow the Jesuscat, and asked me a question. I responded to his question that suggested I hated tebow explaining why I used that term and what I actually hated. Most of it was surrounding factors, not tebow himself. You then responded with a bunch of crap about tebow vs. sanchez and a qb competition. Not surprisingly you don't get how that doesn't belong with the conversation. You're obviously either here to troll or not very intelligent. It won't take long to figure out which one it is. Perhaps you think Tebow is something like Jordan in his prime?
That 56% completion by Sanchez is on a lot more attempts along with 26 turnovers. So for 10% more passes completed than Tebow, you get an average of 1 turnover a game more but with less yards per attempt completed. So, for every touchdown Mark throws, he's giving away the ball to the other team and only completing 56% while only averaging 217 yards a game. With half as many attempts per game Timmy's efficiency overall is better than or the same as Mark's only without the high turnovers and the same average number of touchdowns per game. Much lower risk and less negative plays. Plus you get more total yards rushing per game and man coverage versus zone coverage. Mark's playoff wins are impressive, but he was not asked to carry the load: he had low Touchdown numbers and attempts and still turned the ball over in critical moments. Add in his sack numbers, 39 for the season, and he's not reading the coverages well enough pre-snap. Its valid to say that Tim Tebow could replace Mark at any point for those reasons alone. So, not absurd to question who will be the starter going forward. Had Tebow never been traded to the Jets, I'd not question anything that you say. Also, Mcelroy will be in street clothes most games and maybe gets some reps with the practice squad. He's not won any games in this league.
I'm confused here and I need this answered. Are you a long time Jets fan or have you just converted because of Tim? I'm not trying to bash Tebow, I'm really not. I jsut don't see it. I love his attitude and he has grown on me over the years. I just don't think that at this point in time he can hold Sanchez's jock strap when it comes to playing QB in the NFL. College yes but not the NFL. I dont' care about his arm angle, religion, or anything other then what he has done on the field because like i said in my last post all I care about is the jets winning. I have been living in this hell too long. So you can look at/finagle numbers all you want. The bottom line is Sanchez is a better NFL QB then Tebow. Everything and i mean everything shows that. If you take Tebow's one year 4th qtr miracles out of the equation it would be laughable. His stats are laguhable even when you include those 4th qtr miracles. Will that BS keep up. NOT A CHANCE. Now i hope he comes in and continues to work. I dont' think jets fans are ready to give up on a guy who has brought more success to the jets then any other QB has ever done outside of Joe. I can do without the negativity on Sanchez on this message board i get it enough in the media. You want to cheer for Tebow go ahead but enough of thinking this kid is a NFL QB at this point of his career. Enough of trying to convince legit jets fans that he is better then the one we have had the last 3 years. Only fans that will agree are SOJF.
I hear what you're saying. Hopefully, Mark balls-out and just plays like he does in the Playoffs every game in 2012. Then there's not a problem. And proves that he's the leader of the team, and Tebow is just another player on the team. Maybe Tebow gets cut next year or traded to another team or to the CFL. Who knows? Not gonna convince someone who is legit. Aaron Rogers put to rest any talk of Bret Favre. Just ball-out, Mark.
Alrighty, thank you for clearing that up I disagree on a few points, but I probably don't need to go into that. I know there are really huge fans of his out there...however, I've run into very few--if any--that believe he can do no wrong. Not to say they aren't out there...just seem to be few and far between. I also hope he helps the Jets win games.
What most of those who don't understand this trade is that Tebow isn't just a backup QB. He's a backup who is a bonifide football player. H-back, running back, wildcat. slot receiver...whatever. The game is changing. Many fans and even some NFL coaches just don't get it yet. A new era has arrived. The reason why the Bradfords, Mc Coys and other first rounders fail is the league has changed and unless you've weathered 10 years under center and can read a defense like Brees, Manning, or Brady....you will struggle if you can't run a versatile offense. Tebow can run and pass and those teams who think he can't will get hurt badly this year when the Jets choose to use him. Throw out the old playbooks and buckle your seatbelts. Innovation at the QB position is the new game in the NFL......
Only if their tired and repeated rants fly in the face of logic. Then yes, you are a hater, that goes for anyone else rich and famous.
Can't see how it isn't fair to Tebow as he knew before he was signed that he'd be coming in as the backup QB and that Sanchez was the starter. As to the notion of "if you have 2 QBs, then you have none", I guess someone should have explained that to Urban Meyer the year he won his first NCAA Championship. Chris Leak was the 1st string QB and Tebow came in on short yardage situations and whenever else Meyer felt like sending him in. That was Leak's 4th year as starting QB and it was his second highest in total yards and touchdowns as well. Perhaps that might have been a small drop in production, but still very good numbers.
