i doubt he'll play in friday's game. the last thing the jets need is for revis to get hurt because he wasnt conditioned well enough to be playing. it would be a stupid move on tangini's part to play him friday. i cant see it happening, they're way smarter than that.

Good. I was tired of the other thread and the whole situation.

Not too concerned about whether he plays Friday. All I care about is he's starting game 1 against NE...

I agree that we should all agree that Revis agreeing to a contract is good.

Seriously though, as good as it is that we got him for 6 years its bullshit on the Jets part that he missed 2 eeksbecause they were forcing that one ridiculous thing.....maybe it's the labour studies grad in me but it bugs me that management won this one...

I agree. They're too desperate to have him on the field to have been pushing for the extra year for this long.

So you would rather have a FO cave so that Brick, Revis Chad <insert random other player> contracts all all in the same year. I just do not get this false logic. The last thing this organization needs is another weak Front office.

It is astounding to me that anyone feels bad the Jets won the 6 years in the end. It is not like they pulled Revis's pants down, bent him over and then lubed him up. Geez the guy is getting amply rewarded for agreeing to the extra year. It is a win-win. That is what good negotiating does.

So 2 extra weeks ensured that 2 or 3 of the most important positions do not come up for contract renewal all in the same year. This is good management. I personally think it is great we have a tough but fair F.O. I would also think most Jet fans would welcome a competent Front office for a change.

I think in 5 years we will really be thanking Tannenbaum. But damn, I'm glad it's finally done.

I have to agree with Miamipuck here. I don't thik it's BS for the Jets to hold out for something that was there right (as per the CBA). Just because most other teams went a different way doesn't mean the Jets were being hardasses.

Neither was Reavis in the wrong here for holding out for the best deal he could. Of course, it sucks as fans that we didn't get to see him sooner. However, we don't know all of the cap issues as well as Tannenbaum does. Hopefully the affects of Reavis' "holdout" will not linger too long into the regular season.

As of 11:00PM it's on the Jets official site. I really hope he is at camp tomorrow.

I couldnt agree more. 5 years from now we'll take the 23 practices missed for an extra year. I'm just glad it didnt get too ugly.

And if Revis is a force in the secondary I dont think it will happen until some where towards to end of the season and into the playoffs. We'll be ok, we just need TJones back.

He's going to make millions regardless, so I think he could have signed earlier and he can always get an extension, or raise, etc. It's just important that he's in camp on time and he wasn't, so he lost a ton of respect from me.

As a fan, I understand what you are saying, but the business aspect takes the unknown into account. I too would have loved to have had him in camp at the beginning, but the team wanted more than the standard for his draft position and I applaud them for that. However, he had a valid stance and I applaud him for doing right in his situation. Yeah, you or I would jump at however many million would be thrown at us, but there is a standard of scale. You wouldn't work at McDonalds for less than minimum wage just because it was more than not working at all, would you? No, you'd expect reasonable standard value (I hope). He was just doing the same thing albeit at a much higher standard value.

Looking at it that way you're probably right, I just don't like rookies not being in camp, but really, I can't blameRevis for not being there on this one

You should go tell Kendal to play out his contract, because "he can always get an extension, or raise, etc".
