Ferguson's contract is BS. He can't block 7 punts. I would say he can block 6 and come with in inches of the 7th. Im so pissed the Jets did this to him.

Prolem is also if Revis does accept a deal for say $13m/year this year and becomes the highest paid CB next Year Al Davis will give Aso $13.1m/yr just to piss off Revis in which case he'd end up taking it out on us. Seems to me that's why he wants to go over Aso's head this year b/c he knows Al Davis won't give those numbers up again.

Hey... he already held out in his rookie season... might as well do it again now that he is a proven player in this league.

I'm not trying to be a dick to you Mambo, but are you trying to make yourself stand out by being Anti-Revis?

He's the best defensive player in the NFL and EVERYONE knows that he is. That's why he's demanding a huge deal.

Enough with the "Fuck Revis" and "...what a greedy SOB" stuff - without him on this roster, the Jets wouldn't have been in the playoffs last season.

    He's earned a huge deal.

Why do you have a picture of a guy falling off his bike as your avvy?

Exactly. Good post. Our defense isn't the same without Revis. I really wish they would come up with a deal for the CBA so we can all start to move forward.

    I'm not anti-Revis... I love the guy!

I just have a very team-first approach. To me EVERY player has a max amount of $$$ he's worth and if they won't settle for that I don't mind if they leave... even if they're as good as Revis. (I'm not saying he's been offered that yet, I don't know).

Right now the Jets cannot give him more than a certain amount of $$$ because we already have talent on this team and want to keep it together. If he wants more than that he should go to a place with only a few good players and get an out-of-scale deal (like Aso & the Raiders).

I agree he's earned a huge deal... but to me huge for a CB means in the 13 mill range, not the 15 mill one!

PS Mr. E worried about being a dick to someone? Wow :) did you fall in love with someone the last couple of days :p jk and don't worry ;)

I agree the defense would be worse without Revis... but I think 15 mill would be better spent on two players (say a CB and D. Harris) rather then just Revis... it's value for bucks... if we were the Yankees of the NFL (salary-wise) I wouldn't care if Revis earned 20 mill a season, but teams have budjets so that's not the case.

    Amen.

So in reality if Revis took $13 mil per he would be the 2nd highest paid CB for one fucking year.
But they're gonna leverage this til they can't. Which most likely lasts through 3/4 of TC - or 3 out of 5 Hard Knocks episodes, which I garuntee is in their thought process.

Just to keep everybody's head from exploding, here's a very recent interview with the man himself (mostly non-football):

No matter what he says right now, or his entourage says, this doesn't strike me as someone who's about to blow up a chance at a ring over 13mil vs. 16 mil.
He's gonna get paid and he's gonna get hardware.
    Bank on it.

Right on. I want Revis to get paid. He is playing way beyond his $1M due this season. But that doesn't mean the Jets have to bend over and give him whatever he wants. I have faith in Tanny and the FO to pay Revis with a contract that benefits all parties involved. Until then we just have to live with this madness.

    Revis should sit out....

Let the Team get familiar with Cro and the rook.... Let them get as much playing time as possible and then start talking up how great the defense is and how much the team can get for Revis.....

Let Revis watch it all on HBO sitting at home.....

    EAT ME REVIS!!!!!!

If he is dumb enough to forfeit an entire year of credit towards free agency by holding out past August 10th he deserves everything that happens to him, since he's too stupid to warrant getting paid millions of dollars.

no team will give him an Aso contract. The Raiders are alone in that category.

They made Tommy Kelly the highest paid DL in the league two years ago. Tommy Kelly is one notch above a JAG.

It would be nice if Revis' camp understood that Aso's contract should have no bearing on anything.

Agreed. He can be all pissy for the next 3 years, but he'll still be motivated to perform because he wants that deal. I get trying to earn all you can, but would you rather be the #1 paid corner in the league on a shat team like the Raiders, or the #2 paid corner on a potential dynasty team like the Jets.

Also, if Wilson comes along, I wonder what we could get for Revis, pay A-Cro and go from there? I don't think any other GM pays Revis 15-16 million. 11-12 actually sounds reasonable to me given his talent level.
