I think everybody is past that by now. We all know Sanchez is the guy here and if Chad even knows it's probably time to be a backup I don't see any problem. You'd have clearly defined roles, not like two young guys who both want/need to start. You want a backup who can step in and win a few games, I think wherever he goes Chad will be great in that role. The only thing he's shown he can't do throughout his career is be a steady 16-game starter, but that ship has sailed, at least here it has.

The mentoring thing is overrated, Sanchez will be good or not on his own, we saw that this year. You get a veteran backup to save your season and win some games if the starter goes down, Chad can do that. If he can help the young guy too that's great, but that's not what you get a backup QB for.

Unless Penny comes cheap, I don't see a need to bring him back. I'd love to have him back, but only if the price is right.

We can hopefully agree that Pennington is a dam smart QB as a backup he would be pretty much an additional QB coach he knows Schotty's system and his dink and dunk passing style is good enough in a pinch for a dominant running team.

I still don't forgive the Jets for the whole Favre fiasco. As a Jets fan I'd welcome Pennington back but that would mean that he has no other options and is returning with his tail between his legs.

So as a Pennington fan, I think he'd be better off on another club.

Mark has a bad game and the Pennington cult fans start chanting his name...I know he as booed in that 07' opener, but their's still a core of them...

He was here for 7 seasons...MOVE ON

    Yeah really.

Some day will come that will be the last day anyone again posts about Chad playing on the Jets in something other than the past tense in which it so completely belongs, preferably in some combination with terms such as "noodle arm" or "China Dollington" or "can't hit the out pass if his life depended on it".

That day has not yet arrived. But it will be here someday.

He was here for 8 seasons nad if he came back it would be as a backeup wher hopefully he'd never see the field again except in blowout wins.

I'd love it if he came back as a backup. He'd be a great person for Sanchez to learn from.

Man you gotta love Pennington, he's a classy guy. I'd love to see him back as a backup, but I don't see it happening due to the $$$.

You never know. Gonna have to wait and see.

I think as well as Sanchez did this year with Kellen as the backup, Chad was a starter for his 9 seasons. I still think mark could grow from that. Additionally, Chad knowing Schotty's system will make it much easier.

If Chad can swallow his pride, I hope Tanny does the right thing and brings him back.

I change my vote. I really wouldn't mind seeing Penny come back as a mentor for Sanchez.

No matter how bad Mark plays however, this is still his team.
