RIP. All time great Jet, brilliant center, and a good guy. I think a lot of us on the board are around his age so this is an especially tough one.
RIP, Nick. Wow, I didn't know he was THAT sick. My wife's cousin had a similar disorder and was on dialysis for about a year about 15 or so years ago. He got a kidney from his sister and is alive today. Knowing that, I was optimistic that Nick would live long enough for a donation. This is really sad.
We hit rock bottom as Jets fans with this loss. A all time great Jet and I implore anyone moving forward of getting a jersey you get one of a player like Mangold first. A true Jet and elite football player. Guys like him, Curtis Martin, Chrebet, DBrick are hard working players that deserve our support. Rip Mangold and condolences to his family
You know the franchise is in a bad place when something so terrible like this can happen that is worse than an 0-7 start. Absolutely devastating to me as a Jets fan. that draft was arguably the greatest moment in Jets history other than SBIII. Mangold was the player in that draft I wanted most; the fact that we got him and he was clearly the anchor of the best run of success Jets in history makes him the best Jets player in history not named Namath and Gastineau IMO.
May his soul rest in peace. Good bye Nick until we see each other again. Goodbye my neighbor. Good bye my all time Jets favorite. Good bye family man.
Crazy how soon this happened after he went public with his need for a kidney. Have to think he was hesitant to ask for help as many men are. RIP to a true Jets legend.
That's so sad. Nick and Brick were my two favorite players during the Rex Ryan era, which was also the last time the Jets were good. We all knew he wasn't doing well, but I never thought he'd pass away so soon. RIP Nick.
I honestly thought his public plea would get him through, thinking dialysis would hold him down until a transplant came through. Sadly, time was the enemy in the end. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and everyone who was hoping alongside him. It’s such a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile time really is and how unfair life can be sometimes. Wishing comfort and healing to everyone who loved him R.I.P
Damn this hurts, and hits hard. We’re the same age too. Damn man, this year has been rough. All the best to his family. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I found out just now during the telecast. I had read the other thread and saw that it had been bumped but I didn't click on it this morning. I never imagined it would be that. Really is this the worst year ever for the Jets?
So terribly saddened to learn of the Nick Mangold's passing. He was the heart and soul of the Jets during their glory years. His spirit, charisma and leadership will be greatly missed.
