Mac has made two mistakes at the Qb position since his hire. First was resigning Fitz instead of transitioning to the future and second: Drafting Hackenberg when everyone knew Hackenberg was not pro material. My fear is that Mac won't go oh fer two and will force feed Hackenberg into the starting Qb slot no matter what the evidence says.

I have no problem with the drafting of Hackenberg.
Drafting him in the second round, when every draft pundit said he should be drafted no higher than the fourth, was huge mistake.

I just don't see Cutler in a New York as a good mix. His attitude would not go over well with the New York media.

Could have been worse we could have drafted a crappy kicker in the second round like Tampa. LOL

I guess you judge that on the few snaps you seen him in preseason? Some of you are so funny.

Dude, he sucked at Penn State...He sucked during the preseason too. He was not ready and should never have been drafted in the 2nd round by Mac with 3Qb's already on the roster. Some people are just Qb blind I guess..I'm hoping Mac isn't one of them.

Unlike the charming and dignified hot option that is our #2 QB.

Until Petty actually plays a meaningful game I will not believe he is not ready. There seems to be more to that then we are being told. He seemed fine to me in preseason with our scrubs and the opponents scrubs so let him have a shot with the players that matter. I have no doubt he would do mush better than anybody else we have on those long downfield throws.

In fairness to Mac, maybe he does not see Geno or Fitz in the jets future, if that's the case then I'm ok with the pick as we might see Petty and Hack battle it out next year.

If he drafts another QB in nexts years draft then you have to start to wonder about their plan for the QB position and Mac himself.

The problem could be the coaching staff, Denver has 2 young QBs on their roster, even though Paxton showed that he is not ready for the NFL at this point, their other QB Semian only has 2 years under his belt.

They have done a good job of not asking him to carry the team and it's worked out well for them.

Maybe Petty is ready, this CS has shown themselves to be pretty slow in regards to making changes.

Yes but I really doubt either Fits or Smith will be back next year and if we lose this week and next week and are sitting at 1-6 then we must get Petty in to see what he can do and maybe even have Hackenberg back him up. We need to know what we have before the draft.

You've just described a classic "catch-22" situation. Petty can't show what he can really do until he at least gets a few snaps with the "ones" instead of the scrubs he's had to play with so far. This FO/CS is Qb blind and that's gonna hurt this team until that changes.

Agreed, said all offseason on Twitter that Jets should not re-sign Fitz and feared last season was smoke and mirrors from Fitz, soft schedule, and teams not having enough tape to scheme for our offense better. A year later we have seen Fitz revert back to his career average, tougher schedule = better teams scheming for us, and outcoaching us. I understand why Fitz was brought back, I disagree with the 12 mil price tag but I'm glad its a 1 year deal which allows us to get rid of him after 1 year of damage. In terms of how we go forward, start Fitz, and if he has another breakdown against the Cardinals then I pull him and start to see if Geno offers any upside. If we are in complete free fall I would start seeing if Petty has anything. The whole point of losing seasons, specifically if we aren't in contention is to test those who haven't been tested before. We have to see what Petty is, and maybe even Hack (but I am less inclined to throw him in there this season).

I agree 100%, and I will be even more upset with TB if they put in Petty and the team starts playing well offensively.

Something tells me that we won't see either Petty or Hack even if the team is done for this year. This CS is not that good, and I have no faith in them to make the right decision at this point.

I highly doubt we'll see either kid this year no matter what the record is barring catastrophic injury to both Fitz and Geno. Bowles is dead set against any Qb controversy and Mac has $12mil on the line with Fitz and will squeeze every buck out of him for any ROI he can salvage. 2017 for Petty and Hack which might be a blessing.

He started sucking when Fralkin took over. That dude doesn't have a clue about coaching. Everybody wants to look at Dak. It so easy to say after the fact. Give Hack some time he will be a starter in NFL. But like most Jet fans they want to jump the gun and not give it time.
