I think the next shoe won't drop till April 1st when the Kaep money kicks in. At that point the niners lose some power and the Broncos know that. If they don't cut him then they put themselves to be possibly "stuck" with him for another year.
I think we could give fitz the 3 year $60m contract he wants and deserves. 4m signing bonus 6.5m year 1 6.5m year 2 43m year 3
I take it that none of the 43M would be guaranteed? If so, offering that contract to Fitz would be insulting.
Who said I'm assuming he won't be? The insulting part is that you're offering him just 43M. Fitz probably won't take a dime under 50M.
I think that if any part of you believes that any fan thinks any player in the nfl is worth $43m a year then you should rethink who's stupid.
Thank God you weren't serious, I was starting to think you were because you kept talking about it. Carry on.
Yeah. Homeofthejets wouldn't roll with the joke until his last post so I had to see how far I could take it.
Rich Cimini @RichCimini 4m4 minutes ago RG III contract with Browns hurts Jets' negotiating stance with Ryan Fitzpatrick http://es.pn/1T82zwA lol it hurts their stance in that it took ANOTHER team off the board and made McCown available, okay Rich. Who's left now looking for a QB...Denver and the Rams? And Kaep going off the board takes another team off Fitz's market.
And Chase Daniel who'd never won rookie of the year or started a full season was already getting $7 million and first-round bust Sam Bradford got $18 million, the RG deal changes nothing other than taking a team off the board. The market's CLEARLY not at where Fitz and his agent hope it would be.
Im glad the jets arent caving and just paying some mediocre or below average talent tons of money. The market is ridiculous and hopefully more teams start doing this as well. Tying millions up on shitty players is something bad franchises do regardless of if they win a super bowl or not. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
Who would have thunk a year ago that TGG would be on pins and needles waiting for the Jets and Fitz to come to terms. This is a sad state of affairs from the macro view of things.
So Bradford set the bar for qbs that teams want and RG3 has set the bar for qbs that teams will settle for.
RG3's contract with Cleveland helps the Jets immensely. Prior to this contract there were NO contracts in the middle ground. They are QBs on their rookie deals ($3M/yr) or vets ($18-$22M/yr). None were in the middle ground $7-$9 range. Now there is. $7.5M/yr, exactly where the Jets want to be. MacCagnan has something concrete to point to when talking to Fitz's agent. I expect Fitz to sign within a week.
