This just needs to be quoted so the only-Fitz people can take another look if they missed it I just cannot understand the "we're doomed without Fitz" mentality.....You can prefer him all you want but a JAG journeyman with zero arm strength will never be a savior for anyone.....come on guys
I probably agree with all of this but hey, might as well see how Geno looks before throwing in the towel on any future
I'm at the point where I really don't give a shit at this point. Fitz or Geno. Just make a selection and move on.
Part of that is also controlling the ball on offense so that 1) you don't create pick-6 turnovers that lead to scores and 2) you don't turn the ball over deep in defense making it easier for the opposition to score
I dont believe people who want Geno over Fitz want him because hes the future at QB. I think the majority mindset is that Fitz is a really bad QB and had a great season due to Chan gailys offense. If Chan can get that type of play with this type of roster using Fitz i believe we can get as good or better from Geno.
Your plan has a fatal flaw in the very first sentence. Fitz isn't going to play well for the next 2-3 years even if he signs. If that's Mac's master plan, then he isn't as smart as I thought he was, and I'll be ready to start looking for another GM.
What a steaming hot load of shit. Wherever the broncos go this year Sanchez will be along for the ride.
That theory is not impossible, but also far from a given. Fitz did have great players around him and a good system, but he also was a great leader. Qualities Geno has never shown. Can't just learn it over night.
Lets not act like there wasn't a bunch of times last season when Fitz just threw it up and Marshall made a great play against an inferior defender. You dont really need leadership to just chuck it up to Marshall and see what happens. I am confident Geno Smith can do that at the very least.
Of course you'd say that. According to you he never belonged in the NFL, so (if) he leads an NFL team to a ring, what else could you possible say? You were wrong? ha
If this is the key to a good season, we probably shouldn't be rolling with a QB corps that consists of a turnover machine, an inaccurate rookie and someone who is struggling with Madden '16.
First of all, when did I ever say he never belonged in the NFL? I think he's a fine backup NFL QB. I think you're delusional.
I didn't say that Hack would be ready to start next season. He may never be. I just don't think Mac would stick with the mediocre Fitz. There are other vets QBs who will be available who are younger and have more upside.
You're the second poster (maybe more) who has spoken of Geno learning things "over night." What's with that nonsense? He's been in the NFL 3 years. Sure he didn't learn much from Rex or Mornhinweg during those first two years, but those were still years of experience. As he learned last year from Gailey, I'm sure they looked at films of previous years and Geno had time to reflect and learn from the mistakes of those two years. A lot of leadership comes from knowing what you're doing and having confidence in that knowledge and yourself, and knowing you have the confidence of your OC, teammates and HC. Geno never really had those first two years, but seemingly now does, at least to some extent. It may not be enough. He may never develop into a great leader, but I'll bet he can be every bit as good as Fitz in that regard.
At this point it does not look like Fitz is signing so the question is can Geno really be our starter or do we need to be bring in a vet just in case.
Who is the turnover machine? In 2014, Geno had 13 INTS and 3 lost fumbles in 13 Starts/14 Appearances - 16 TO's in 14 games In 2015 Fitz had 15 INTS and 2 lost fumbles in 16 Starts - (Virtually 15 if you account for Oakland) 17 TO's in 15 games Take a look, fact is Geno only had 2 games with multiple INTs in 2014, one being the Buffalo game, Fitz had 4 games (All we lost, but should have won) with multiple INTs in 2015. People remember the disaster Buffalo game and try to sell that the entire season and the bulk of Geno's work is like that. I choose to also remember a couple of Buffalo games from last year.
