Geno when the team needed him the most was reckless and had some mental mistakes in which maybe we can chalk that up to inexperience. Your point is definitely valid as Geno looked a lot better but let's remember that's one game. 2014 Geno was having a coming of age game against the Packers in that first half and we saw what happened the rest of the yr. Solid points though on your end, but stats aren't everything.
As much as I think Geno is a solid option for this season, I don't think he's a long term option. He's just as much a stopgap as Fitz would be, bridging the way to Hack or whomever else Mac decides the next potential "guy" is. My reasoning is that in order for a 'franchise QB' to be worth the exorbitant prices that get dished out nowadays, they shouldn't need perfect circumstances around them in order to succeed. They shouldn't need 2 elite receivers, a Pro-Bowl running back, top 5 defense and good coaching staff. You aren't going to be playing with the All-Pro first team every year, so you need to be able to work around adversity around you if you want to validate the $18m+ that most starting quarterbacks are getting. I think Geno is a good fit for what we have set up this season, no more/no less.

My point is a team known for defense that won it all last year with an under performing QB is looking for a repeat ring with another under performing QB. Kind of Rex's blue print all along both here and in Buffalo. While we kind of embraced this concept but never fully. And here we go, four yrs later, hoping for an 8-8 season while the Broncos are going for ring #2.

I'm embarrassed for the people that don't even think there's a possibility that Geno may have gotten better. I know what kinda responses I'll get to this post and I just won't answer them, but it's really a bad look. I'm not saying I want him starting but it's just foolish to pretend people don't get better.
If Fitz refuses to resign, what are the options left for backup if Geno starts. I honestly can't believe they're ready to throw Petty or Hackenberg in if Geno were to get hurt. I presume they'd have to sign some veteran.
Why not? They started both Sanchez and Smith as rookies with no experience in the league at all. Both will have more experience than either of them if they are called on.

And yes I know Sanchez got to an AFC Championship, he did not have a good year with 12 TD's and 20 picks with a 53.8 completion percentage, but even if he was better than that, long term it clearly wasn't the answer to start him right off. Truth. It was clear he was not a day 1 starter yet got thrown into the fire bath rookie season. No legitmate offense in year two in order to support a QB who wasn't ready. Finally get s a year too learn and watch after being named the starter anyway. Unless Geno is clearly showing he hasnt learned anything from that year Geno is the better prospect to start this year. The severe lack of the deep ball last year really gave defenses the ability to play the short game on us. If it wasnt for Decker and Marshall being Decker and Marshall last year fitz would have been benched for Petty by week 5-6.
This thought process would make sense if the Jets did not draft Hackenberg in the 2nd Round or offer Fitz a significant pay raise. You don't do that if you feel Geno has gotten better. You do that when you know he is who he has always been. Having said that, I agree Geno should be at least somewhat better than 2013/14. You have to with experience, plus new weapons on O.
