By now the Juncman would have told us how Geno, Fitz, Hackenburg and even Petty should all be playing because they're all better than that overrated guy from Alabama he loved to hate.
Well if Ryan F is not under center. Wonder who it will be. As me thinks it is not going to be Geno S. Petty is still not ready as Hackenberg throwing him to the lions den could be a risk.
Anyone have thoughts on Fitzpatrick returning? Good, bad, indifferent? Could this be the year he breaks out? What about Geno, has he turned the corner? Could this be the year he breaks out? Some times it takes a few years for a QB to "get it". It's sure going to be an exciting season. Discuss.
He uses the anti-Fitz talking points but his stance is the Jets should hold the line on Fitz. Which is what most of the pro-Fitz crowd here including me is saying. Many of anti-Fitz posters here are saying we should drop our offer to Fitz entirely. Which is not what CC is arguing the Jets should do.
Many of the anti fitz have agreed that the offer to fitz is fair, they just are not ready to jump out a window at the prospect of geno starting. Thats the big difference in opinions.
Are there any pro-Fitz guys on here that won't throw in the towel if Geno's starting though? Casserly said he didn't think there would be much of a drop off, if any....which is what some of us on here have been saying all along I am anti-Fitz but think we should offer him like $5-6 mill and compete for the job....Atleast we would have a solid backup either way and it wouldn't be much money. I understand Fitz 99% wouldn't take it but so be it Casserly wasn't really clear if he preferred to keep Fitz anyway...He was more just generally saying the Jets shouldn't cave to his demands
Many of the pro-Fitz crowd aren't going to "jump out the window" if Geno starts. We just think Fitz is a better option.
I won't throw in the towel if Geno starts (unlike some of the anti-Fitz posters who have seemingly thrown in the towel already regardless of who starts). But I want Fitz back on the offer the Jets made and I think Fitz will eventually sign it or something very close to it.
My position exactly. Quite frankly there isn't a fan in here that knows how much better Geno can be, but it's a lot easier to expect much of the same from Fitz, which in my view is "hold the fort and don't loose it"approach but not where we need to be. So if Fitz does not show up we might take a bigger risk, or we might be pleasantly surprised. But for sure we know what we get with Fitz, which is borderline adequate on a good day to beat the better teams.
Yep. I would not jump out of a window, but I definitely would lower my expectations for the season. I think the Jets will be good. I would put the W/L spectrum from (7-9) to (11-5) with Fitz. With Geno I would adjust it to (4-12) to (9-7).
I feel similar. I wouldn't go nuts if we didn't sign Fitz but I would have to lower my expectations for the season. Geno has yet to prove he is an NFL caliber starter. I can't give him the benefit of the doubt. I still don't see how Fitz is playing football this year though if its not for the Jets.
THAT'S THE POINT!!!!! "Anti-Fitz" is sooo misleading! I want Fitz to be back, but don't want to break the bank for him, especially not long-term. And Geno is probably still crap, but I don't mind looking under the hood one last time.
Of course Fitz is a better option. I don't think anyone argues otherwise. Questions is how much are you willing to spend on that better option, especially long-term
I personally believe the leaked Jets offer, if true, was too much. For many reasons. Some of which has to do with Fitzpatrick, but mostly because its not like he's fielding lots of offers to begin with and it was unnecessary for the Jets to go that high in the first place. Again- we dont know if that rumored offer is true anyway
Fitz will stroll in around August first late to practice, walk right into Geno's huddle and tell him to gtfoh. Marshall and Decker will lead the rest of the offense as they embrace him merrily for a minute before breaking the huddle and running plays like they never missed a beat. Gailey and Bowles will wipe the sweat off their brows and toss out the tums they had been rifling through for weeks.
