they could've and through the benefit of hindsight absolutely should've extended his contract when he was simply a journeyman backup and not a 30 TD passer but I dont think they saw that coming and wanted to leave their options open with him. I'm not going to kill them for that. I'd be more apt to kill them over not extending Wilkerson before they went on their spending spree last offseason
I'm sure having the best WR tandem in decades had nothing to do with his incline in numbers. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I like Fitz but this is too much lol. http://vikingsjournal.com/_/minneso...to-significantly-upgrade-at-quarterback-r1147
Well if you don't want to give Fitz credit for anything that's your choice Its the same sorry argument that Geno or a tall guy who can heave the football in Central park can run the Jets offense The intangibles like leadership, smarts, chemistry, knowledge of Gaileys offense mean nothing to you and aren't worth a dime.
Skimmed the article... but saw this gem: "Fitzpatrick would probably accept a three-year deal at just over $8 million per year, just to stick it to the Jets." Riiiiiight... Fitz would leave his teammates, leave the offensive system he thrived in, move his whole family, join a team he doesn't know, with receivers he's never played with, late in the summer, for the same money.... just to stick it to the Jets. Ok.
Why isn't Marshall right in the head? Look at the person he was a mere 2-3 years ago, and look at who he is now..... He has done a complete 180 with his life and has matured greatly..
Haha I figured I was completely off base.. I didn't go back in the thread to see what the context of your statement was... Carry on.
Ok, quote me where I said I'm not giving Fitz credit for anything. I'm saying his career year wasn't just because he had a better than normal year. I'm saying suddenly playing with a really good #1 and a solid #2 helped him a fair amount. Just like if Geno plays with Marshall and Decker, odds are he'd have a better year than he did throwing to Kerley and Holmes or Decker as a #1 (which we should all be able to admit he's not that good as a #1) and Kerley. Marshall gets open more, which gets Decker open more, which gets other receivers open more. Geno had no such luxury the past two years he was the starter. His o-line sucked. Receivers were never open. Fitzpatrick would have sucked total ass those two years too.
really the guy has been a self entitled prick since day one and still is that has not changed embellished or not. Or do you think his actions last yr were an anomaly? Not a winning qb, his stats prove that. Everyone talks all want about not having talent but forget the simple fact he is a mental midget. Look no farther then the raiders game last yr and look at the mental mistakes he made. Those are mistakes a qb either a starter or back up should never make, or do you think knowing down, distance and game situations is not important too?
Another old argument Who cares about what Geno went through two or three years ago You are saying that the odds are a 32nd ranked QB will do better with our current personnel,,,well OK But don't forget: really the guy has been a self entitled prick since day one and still is that has not changed embellished or not. Or do you think his actions last yr were an anomaly? Not a winning qb, his stats prove that. Everyone talks all want about not having talent but forget the simple fact he is a mental midget. By all accounts I've read this year, he was a self-entitled prick, but is no longer, so for you to say that hasn't changed at least seems to be utter BS. You could still be proven correct, but according to the CS and Jets players, he has changed. He has a new sense of professionalism, is prepared, knows the offense and is more humble. Based on his past, I can totally understand your lack of trust in him, but it's in the Jets best interest if he develops at least into at least a stop gap QB, and he has a chance to do that and more. His stats don't prove anything. While what he did in the past in a different offensive system, with a different CS, at a different/lesser maturity level, and with lesser talent around him isn't totally irrelevant, all that matters is how he performs now, in this offensive system, with this CS, and with a supposedly more mature, confident and poised attitude. You don't know that he is a mental midget, so stop with the nonsense. I trust Gailey's, the QB coach's, and Bowles' opinions and judgments of Geno more than I do you, me or any other fan.
that ranking is based on what he did 2 or 3 years ago. so if you use that ranking to bolster your argument you,in fact, care what he went through 2 or 3 years ago. being that as it is, what he did 2 or 3 years ago and the elements around it become relevant. just sayin
They said the same crap last yr and then he went all ape shit crazy and talked trash to a crazed Line backer that broke his Jaw. I trust the fact that a person that grew up around him said what they said. Note he had the same coaching staff last yr and watched quite a bit from the side line before he forgot down and distance. The fact he forgot down distance ran out of bounds, took a sack when shouldn't have and made those types of mistakes after watching 10 games from the side lines supposedly learning proves my point . Your going on a hunch and feeling, the same stuff was said last year, he was being a leader and showing maturity. What do expect the coaching staff to say when Fitz or another vet qb is not on the roster? That Geno sucks? Trust all you want but you can't turn a turd in a diamond. His best future in the NFL is a back up. The fact they have cut 1st round qbs for less should tell you how desperate we are for one. Million dollar arm and 10 cent brain, so I would ask you to please stop talking up Geno as if he going to be a world beater and decent player when his history suggests otherwise also you don't know he isn't a mental midget so your speculating as much as I am. At least I can base it on his play and a person that knew him while you are basing your assumption on? His stats prove everything including the fact he has yet to learn from his game day mistakes. Sorry but facts are facts you ignore them all you want but 35 interceptions, 27 tds, 7 fumbles, he has two perfect games on against the end of yr dolphins and another against the bills one is 100 and the other is a 0.0, if that does not tell about how bi-polar his game is nothing else will.
First Geno would need to learn how to read a defense and make the correct adjustment and find the open receiver. Something he has yet to do in the NFL. He generally goes with his first read. I remember the game against the fins where we ran all day long and in the last 2 minutes he misreads the defense throws into double coverage missing a wide ope Decker on the side lines. Misread the defense there did not adjust and threw into double coverage......
Before the punch, all accounts last year were talking about how much Geno had matured. Like this gem from Mehta. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...surprises-newfound-maturity-article-1.2314986 If you don't want to click the link, at least read the first sentence: "Geno Smith looks, sounds and acts like a full-fledged grown-up now." Geno got clocked a week after Mehta wrote that. And if you really trusted the Jets staff and front office, you'd be saying the same thing that I'm saying. If we can bring back Fitz on a reasonable deal before he misses too much of TC, we do it and Fitz is the starter. Because that's what the staff is saying.
