Jaws weighs in on the mega-intelligent one through Rotoworld: Based on film study, ESPN's Ron Jaworski said free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick should have thrown 30 interceptions last year. Jaws was unimpressed by Fitzpatrick's 2015 tape. "There were 15 [passes] that doinked off a linebacker's hand or safety's hand that should've been intercepted," said Jaworski. "He was a little bit lucky." Jaws criticized Fitzpatrick for his lack of consistency and attributed most of his success to Brandon Marshall's "phenomenal" play. Fitzpatrick certainly overachieved in 2015. It's very likely one of the reasons the Jets feel comfortable playing hardball in contract talks.
I understand Jaws saying this, but you should also factor in that this happens to every QB. Many INT's are dropped. Some QB's are luckier than others. If he reviewed other QB's and they were far lower than 15 should be INT's I would be surprised. That equates to 1 drop a game. Makes sense.
Not everything is equal...players and teams do have seasons where they are very lucky and sometimes unlucky Remember a few seasons ago when the Jets defense couldn't fall on one single fumble for just about the whole season? Everyone kept saying their luck in turnovers would turn but it never did To truly understand it you would have to analyze every throw that every QB made during last season but no one will do it Fitz was definitely on the lucky side last season in the interception department...I think even most Fitz fans would probably agree with that....How lucky compared to every other starter? Not sure but I would bet money it was atleast in the top third
Jaws also said Kap was the greatest thing ever. He has a point though. He thinks Fitz deserves a contract but not high level starter money, which I agree with.
I think it's too easy to be short sighted about winning. The salary cap determines the long term viability of franchises. It's not worth sinking that viability for a band aid player. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
New York Jets @nyjets 1m1 minute ago Bowles on Geno in Year 2 with Chan: "He's light-years ahead of where he was last year...He's night-and-day." That is good news. Hope it is true. Fitz or no Fitz, Geno improving is good for the team for the 2016 season.
Maybe it really is time to forget Fitz and move on. If Geno can play near mediocre level, it will be an improvement (or break even) for the team and we won't miss Fitz at all. Of course, that's a HUGE if. OTAs aren't exactly a great measuring stick for in game situations.
what you saw last year from fitz was the upside. in this area, the bills are on local tv constantly. bills fans who posted on our site warned you about fitz and they are right.
I hope Jaw is sitting down and doing this for every QB, while also counting dropped passes and TD'S. There is a lot of gray area in what he said Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
Yes I get what you are saying here and in your previous post I have been hammered for calling RF mega intelligent by at least 5 others lol. Guys can win games and SBs by being great game managers, keeping their wits about them and making red zone plays. All of which Fitz does Just talking football skills he has made some awful decisions...nonetheless it got us 10 wins showing a lot of grit attitude and chemistry...things RF has that Geno doesn't but no one wants to acknowledge that Only that we don't need mega intelligence....smh Speaking of intelligence why don't we just start from scratch with GeNo
There's no denying that Mac is doing the right thing in playing hard ball with Fitz. His leadership is not worth the premium.
Fitz had at LEAST 5 dropped TDs. And countless other drops that would have extended drives. Hey, maybe one of the linebackers wasn't running full speed and it could have been 31 interceptions. GTFO Jaws you jerkoff. _
I don't think you know what you are talking about. Completing passes in 7 on 7s with no pass rush whilst wearing a red jersey is EXACTLY what is predictive of NFL game success. _
Getting into Harvard represents not only intelligence in the narrow sense, like good test scores, articulate in writing, etc but also hard work, perseverance, ambition, determination, social intelligence and organization. All good qualities you want in your on-field leader. Either that or rich and connected parents, anyway.
http://www.si.com/nfl/2016/06/14/ne...o-smith-ryan-fitzpatrick-starting-quarterback Wow. Namath just destroyed Fitz.
Destroyed? I do not think that word means what you think it means. “We talk about Fitzpatrick not signing a contract with the Jets,” Namath said. “Well, you got to figure as smart as he is, he just doesn’t recognize that it’s important to play with a good team. Last year was the first time he played with a good team in his career, and he excelled.” _
Geno needs to find a way to match what Fitz did prior to the snap. Fitz did a great job in that department and if Geno can replicate that I think the offense can be decent. It was time to move on last month imo
