You see it doesn't matter to me whether someone's a democrat, republican, RINO or whatever. What matters to me is a candidate's stance on certain issues that pertain to me and my family.
The term "conservative" is a very broad one. Trump is definitely not a true conservative, meaning if you make a list of all conservative values, you can't put a check mark next to every one of them in regards to Trump. But he's certainly more conservative than all the Democratic party candidates. I should have probably said that Cruz has no chance of winning if he runs as a true conservative, as that appeals only to a relatively small group.
The battle for the soul of the Republican Party was joined in a major way today with GOP Gov. Terry Branstad of Iowa calling for Ted Cruz to be defeated. The gov is the longest serving governor in US history at this point and is a committed member of the GOP establishment. He endorsed Mitt Romney early in 2012 after Rick Santorum had pulled out a narrow and very surprising victory in the Iowa caucuses. The notable thing about Branstad's action today is that he did not call for another candidate's victory, he called for Cruz's defeat. History tells us that warring Republicans fail to get elected and recent history suggests that Branstad might well wind up on the wrong end of a challenge to the Tea Party. It's moments like this that stand out years later when analysts are trying to figure out what happened in a watershed year that changed things forever.
It's no sure thing, but every day that goes by with the current situation unchanged it becomes more likely that we will see the GOP come apart at the seams this year, and most likely continue to do so for some time. The split is real and the anger an unprecedented number of GOP voters have for their political leaders in DC is real. and apparently growing. As a Democrat one might think this pleases me, but not in the long run. Democracy needs a two party system at least, and we all know that. It's not good for the country.
America would be better off with a multi-party system in which only one party was strong in a given election but the strengths traded off over cycles and nobody was dominant for long. Not an Italy type electoral fiasco but a system in which lousy government sent a party to the woodshed for a decade and forced them to figure out how they screwed up last time before they got back on top. The problem with the two party system is that when both parties are dominated by particular special interests and have a level of corruption built into the process the voters have nowhere to turn when things devolve or players run amuck on the political scene. The lesser of two evils is only guaranteed to get evil elected on a consistent basis. This is why I am so pissed at the Democrats for cutting back to the left after 2008 instead of just marginalizing the Republicans on the far right. It would have been better for the Greens or the Working Family Party to get established and create a real dialogue between them on the left and the Democrats in the center and the GOP on the right. We don't know how that would have turned out but gridlocked government and the failure of meaningful reforms to the system wouldn't have been the likely result.
Actually, that's wrong when it comes to Westchester County which is solidly blue and enjoys a nearly 2 to 1 Democratic registered majority.
But dontcha know that a Trump-Palin ticket would have regional and demographic balance? Trump could get the angry white male vote and Palin would have the chickens for checkups crowd in her pocket.
I did not know that. I always think of places like Larchmont and Scarsdale as full of your traditional country club/chamber of commerce Republicans, the kind that really don't exist in terms of any meaningful national candidates anymore, now that the tea party nitwits and bitter poor white folk have taken the party over. But that's just my assumption, I know very little about the place. My portion of the 1% doesn't quite scrape that high.
America would be better off without the stupid electoral college, which is totally obsolete at this point. The two party system will not go away as long as the electoral college is in place.
So, a dentist goes to a bar. Tells the bartender he is a dentist. And bartender is offended. Tells the dentist he is offended. Why do you have to brag you dentist? Give the fucking dentist a keyboard and he will think he is the most special thing in America. You are fucking dentist Dierking. $20 copay my ass. Dentist? Bragging? Really? A dentist? Haahahahaha. Okay Forget the Dierking the insecure dentist. Let's get back to reality. Cruz is an ass. He can't govern te drawer where I keep my underwear. In fact, Hillary can't either but maybe her husband can help. Trump is 100 times better than Cruz. If idiot Dentists don't vote for Cruz, we are fine. Dentist. My tooth is aching. Help me. hahahahaha
America would be better without the bigots like you Petro. I met a wonderful American in London today. A tax paying Muslim. A Vice President in a Fortune 100 company who brings more value to America than you are. Ypou bigot you. Learn something from cman55 will ya?
America would be better off if they moved Election Day from the first Tuesday in Nov to the first Saturday. It would make voting much much easier for the working 99%. The electoral college still serves a purpose as it gives a voice to the states with a smaller population which I think was its original purpose. Sarah Palin backs Trump ! Doesn't that figure...
While at the same time makes voting a complete waste of time in many states. I think this outweighs whatever it gives to the smaller states.
Okay. Apologize for the word bigot. Most likely you aren't. But but but. forget it. I love TGG. i will discuss when not drunk. Love from London, then Rotterdam., then India then Switzarland. Love you Petro because you love Jets and you are my only linkage to Cman, Stokes, abyzmul. Peace...
