Cruz is a man who defended his wife and family. As he puts it : "I wasn't going to come like a servile puppy dog and say thankyou very much for maligning my wife and father."

Ted Cruz can never call himself a "Reagan Conservative" ever again. When Reagan lost to Ford in 1976, after a bitter campaign, Reagan did the right thing and unified the party. Some feel it was this speech that got him the nomination in 1980:

Ted Cruz, you are no Ronald Reagan.

Lmao someone is angry. Do people actually attribute value to your rantings? There is much more to life than posting on a forum 40,000 times. Try it out.

At any point, did Ford call him Lyin' Reagan or disparage Nancy?

Um... First of all, English is not her first language. They said it was her 5th, who knows, but definitely not her first. Secondly, most people, even those with a law degree from an Ivy League school, use a professional speechwriter if they have one available to them.

As for the Cruz thing, considering the timing of Trump's appearance, he had known exactly what Cruz was going to do and played it to his advantage.

abyzmul, I've already suspended someone here for a much more subtle personal attack. If you can't get your point across without F-bombs and namecalling, it's better to just stay away.

Agreed, but no matter you gotta love his delivery last night. "If you care about your children and the security of this nation, vote your conscience (don't vote Trump if you value life)"

then he should've said that at the speech. or better yet had some integrity to not even speak. if he wanted to get that swipe in he could've done so in a statement explaining why he wasn't going to speak.

what he did was some sore loser bullshit. delivered with some pussy passive agressive "vote your conscience"

Better a sore loser than a servile puppy dog like Christie. Whatever Ted said is on Trump's team for allowing him the opportunity. If you can't even negotiate what someone is going to say at YOUR convention, how can you negotiate with world leaders?

That 1976 contest was as viscous and nasty as any other in Primary History. You had a candidate trying to unseat the sitting President of the United States... IN THE PRIMARY.

You remember that when you hear Bernie Sanders' speech at the DNC.

typeOne, that "love it or leave it" thinking is John Birch Society-type of 1960's reactionary crap - don't fall into that censorship trap.

And fwiw, if you recall she did 'gtfo' and took her case to Geneva to speak to a U.N. gathering 3 months later.

It was a dick move by Cruz, but you can't say Trump didn't earn it. I appreciate the fact that Cruz is sticking with his principles here - even as risky as it is for his political career.

It does make it more difficult to win when you have principled leaders like Cruz and Ron Paul who won't go for party over country. Especially when you have fakers like Bernie Sanders on the other side who claim they're leading a "political revolution" against the establishment only to fully support the most corrupt, establishment candidate going.

One side is all in for the party. One isn't.

I'm not questioning anything you said above. All I am saying is that he can never legitimately refer to himself as a "Reagan Conservative" ever again.

I'm just confused why you still think it matters that Trump & his wife aren't qualified to be politicians. Trump is popular for reasons most people are completely ignoring. He's a giant middle finger being used as a revolt mechanism, it really doesn't matter what he says
