Right now Trump is all there is...

And FWIW at least it will be a laugh a minute campaign season.

As far as batshit crazy, Hillary! And Bernie both fit that bill...Time to start wondering what 2020 brings besides hinsoght.

For the Nation's sake it had better be a better class of leaders or we're finished as a superpower.

I think Trump has a hard slog against anybody in the general election. He's pissed off so many different voter groups at this point and he won't get many, if any Democratic votes. He'll basically have to get all the Republican votes and a plurality of the Independents and there are Republican voters out there who will not vote for Trump under any circumstances.

For Establishment Republicans, the old Establishment, Hillary is a much safer President than Trump. They'll quietly go into the voting booth and pull the curtain and vote for her. Think David Brooks-type Republicans, of whom there are still a fair number. Those people are all going to stealth vote for Hillary.

What if this whole thing is just brand management on Trump's part? What if he never intended to actually get elected but just wanted to build the Trump brand up?

So he spent a few million on advertising and took in very few contributions and then just went about the business of making Trump a household word in America.

However, he was getting a bunch of votes, more than he expected, so he started saying really outrageous things, to slowly knock himself out of the race. But then a strange thing happened, the polls suddenly began to rise for him and his nomination began to look more plausible.

So then he said really outrageous things, designed to offend not only the average voter "torture is good, let's do more of it!" but also to offend the Republican base "The Bush Presidency was a disaster! 9/11 was Bush's fault! The Iraq War was a disaster!" and he said them right before a state the Bushes were strong in, S.C.

And the polls dipped a little bit but he won the state and it's 50 delegates easily.

What could Trump say next to try to get out of actually having to be the nominee?

Could he be the first accidental President in history? A brand-raising exercise run amuck?

It's probably all wishful thinking on my part but man when you look at it from 10,000 feet it sure looks like Trump was on a lark and then things got serious.

I hate that Trump likes tom brady. However, the one thing that Trump has said that makes the most sense is that Political Correctness is destroying America. On this he is right. Our president is afraid to call a muslim terrorist a muslim terrorist. The wall to keep out Mexicans is just nuts, but Trump does want to bomb the shit out out of ISIS.

Being a practicing Atheist I would never vote for Cruz. I hated Kasich when he was in Congress. Carson was my candidate until he spoke. Rubio is just a robot on repeat.

Hillary is a liar and will say anything to get into office. Bernie is a nut who will not get anyone in congress to back any of his bullshit. Maybe he could unify Congress inadvertently.

I am voting for Trump as is the rest of rural America. Hillary will try to get the Urban vote of big cities and hope her Super PACS push her to victory. Either way we are screwed but I like an entertaining leader and Trump will be that. No one of any substance will run anymore because of the media and their witch hunts for dirt. Click bait made famous by TMZ has moved the needle of candidates to the lowest common denominator. Safe, bland, and neutral. That's what they put out there because the hounds have to tear every thing down that they can. For christ sake they are going after Peyton Manning.

Trump doesn't give a fuck and that is why he will win. Everybody else has to have their speeches proof read so that they don't offend any subset with their hearts on their sleeves.

Am I the only one here who believes the military school Donald Trump may have crossed an indelible line or two? Or the young, show your dad what you can do businessman may have stepped on more than a few toes? Or the middle aged casino mogul may have formed alliances with some not ready for the light of day acquaintances? Or the uber wealthy but also bankrupt Trump may have played fast and loose with banking regulations? Might the womanizer have a few secrets in his closet that would not be favorably looked upon by mainstream America?

I just can't help but believe that at least two huge political and a slew of news or quasi-news organizations have dossiers like the old Manhattan phone book on the guy and are just waiting to spill a few dozen truckloads of beans when the time is ripe. On the other hand, he could be pure as the driven snow and the guy who will take us to the promised land but I doubt anyone would be willing to produce that movie..

He's not a professional politician perpetually seeking office. He's a professional whore perpetually seeking notoriety. He doesn't give a fuck what bad news comes out about him, he never has and never will, as long as his name is in the news he's happier than a clam in a shell.

He's immune to the fallout from the political consequences of his past because there is no fallout for him.

I never said that; I did refer to two major political organizations. It could all be a matter of timing.

The fact that he doesn't give a shit and apparently never has is what I believe makes him vulnerable today to that which may have transpired in the past. I don't believe anyone ever stated he was seeking the Oval Office while a cadet at NY Military Academy.

Of course, I believe many peoples' pasts have eliminated them from a prominent future.

i dont think republican candidates have any time to wait if they're looking to knock off trump. no way bush and his massive war chest of cash and establishment backing would have bowed out with ammo like that in the back pocket.

I'd be shocked if someone was still holding an ace up their sleeve at this point.

Why should Bush have seriously considered himself a contender anyway? Why be left holding the smoking gun with nothing to gain? But I've been wrong for months now thinking Trump was the cartoon candidate waiting to blow up like a case of Acme dynamite.

I don't think it's going to matter unless it's something totally outrageous (against the law) that he did in the past 10 years or less. Military school? It was like 50 years ago for God's sake! Who cares?
Womanizer? That stuff would definitely only improve his poll standing. A certain former president who's still very popular is a big league womanizer. If Trump is on the same level as Bill, his ratings would only go up :)
