A Bills fan. I got married in early August. Back from the honeymoon in plenty of time for the regular season. I actually vetoed a Labor Day weekend wedding (back then the season started that weekend).
No, I'll alter it....but not remove it. Those losses are part of what has made me a Jet fan. It would be like taking down the USS Arizona Memorial. Never forget the past, but celebrate the present.
DBJ Great story. #1) in laws exist only to be a black hole of your existence. Actions like this are the epitome of a persons character and soul. I feel your pain because my dad used to tape games when he is working. People work hard for those few hours of simple pleasure. So let me say "Everything as of tomorrow will finally be your retribution and finest day as a JETS fan"
After re-reading your story, I have no doubt in my mind that if I was in your place, that phone would have been smashed into bits.
Funny that you say that because I indeed did smash that telephone to bits after listening to a voicemail from my mother-in-law on another occasion (completely unrelated to the Jets).....and I'm like the least violent guy you could imagine.
Still a great story I remember reading it last year too, and for some reason it just doesn't seem like that long ago. Time flies.
What team is your father-in-law a fan of that he wanted to 'razz' you ? BTW, I taped that game in its entirety.....saved the tape....broke the tabs....but never watched it, not even a second. I think I put tape over the tab holes and tapes cartoons for my nephew about 2-3 years ago.
This is why I go into "radio silence" mode if I'm not in front of the TV at kickoff. Most of the time now I DVR the game and wait a half hour so I can fast forward through the commercials and BS.
I'm pretty sure I let her read this when I first wrote it (back in 2005). She doesn't particularly like her mother either. She was a shitty mom....and pretty much still is. She is one of the few people I've ever met that has no redeeming qualities and might in fact be evil.
