Any QB can play in this system. You have to start the QB from day 1, that's just how you do it these days. It makes no sense to sign a veteran backup QB if you are all-in with a rookie, you risk a QB controversy. Also, PFF can eat a fat one, I have hated that site since it started but figured it would attain some sort of legitimacy as far as getting more accurate but it seems like it's still that same crap with a bunch of credibility handed to it.
I also heard that you need a blonde 14 year old mormon to succeed in the modern day NFL. But that might’ve been some guy on meth analyzing prospects in early February here.
It depends on the vet QB you sign. If it's a guy who's a proven winner and will only be here for a year or two then I don't think there's necessarily a controversy. If you sign a guy like Russell Wilson or someone who still has a few years and is trying to prove himself, then yeah there might be a controversy. Playing a FQB-potential guy from Day 1 is how it's done these days, but there's a lot of failure as a result. In hindsight, starting Wilson Day with a rookie HC and CS, and an unproven OL and weapons was a recipe for trouble. Hopefully, now that Saleh & Co have had a some games to learn about things and the OL is more settled, and Zack has had a few games to sit and watch, he comes back and applies what he's learned. I'll be surprised frankly if he falls on his face, but you never know.
Does he pay you for the promotion or nah? Lawrence has looked terrible dude. Maybe slightly less terrible than Wilson but he looks like he’ll be joining the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show with Reggie and Matt Leinart sooner than he’ll be a franchise quarterback.
HOTJ, you know me as a poster well enough to know I'm not trolling-- I'm just comparing the interceptions.
I read FOF's post three times and can't find the part where he is "actively rooting for (Wilson) to fail.". Why do you make stuff like that up?
Creating a thread about how some no name reporter is calling Wilson the worst QB of the bunch, then never responding in that thread.. major troll move. Half a season, "Wilson might not be the answer." Half the season of Lawrence who's been as bad. "Future HOF righting the ship with poise." Troll. Ignoring Lawrence's fumbles, or his completion percentage, and when he throws for 100 yards in a game. Troll If Wilson ever starts to prove him wrong, like a troll he will stop. I've never seen a poster want a high jet pick to fail so badly so he can say I told you so to a bunch of strangers.
Uh oh, what do we have to look forward to now? https://nypost.com/2021/11/27/arch-manning-struggles-in-isidore-newmans-playoff-loss/
The Mannings were able to dodge us for a season, but what happens when we're picking first overall for his junior AND senior season?
from the looks of byu this year against a much tougher schedule, it seems like Wilson didn’t elevate the players around him either
Not true. Jaren Hall is a pretty good QB prospect who Beck has worked with too…but also their team is seasoned and they have that RB who’s been lighting it up that has helped their offfense.
They’re undefeated against the Pac-12 and 6-1 against Power 5 schools. The passing attack is not what it was with Wilson there but they’ve played a much harder schedule than last year and they’re still beating the better teams - some with ease. The larger point is that BYU far outclassed everyone they stepped on the field against last year which is something that was largely ignored by most who felt like Zach Wilson was not only some sort of elite prospect but ready to go from the start.
