Thanks for showing up, Charlie. First time in three years, you hit a handful of topics, and leave nothing of value behind. Congratulations. Be sure to check back in a few more years when your mom lets you use her computer again.
i have never bought into this jets mentor crap! they had brunell mentor sanchez. how did that work out? if bridgewater is fully back, sign him long term and he is solid backup or starter. for reference, see last year's super bowl champion eagles. then, we can concentrate on filling other needs instead of having 1 or no qbs.
I think your missing the point. no way teddy is here in 2019. period. If we didn't land darnold in the draft sure, but darnold is 100% our starting QB from 2019-2022 and hopefully another decade after that. He has a 50% shot to start this season. Teddy just wants to prove he's healthy. If he is he's good enough to start somewhere. teams always need QBs. could go to miami, jax, denver, etc next offseason but he'll want to be in place where he can start. he won't want to be a career back-up. Sanchez was his own issue, brunell was good to mentor but sanchez didn't learn not brunells fault.
McCown wouldn’t command that much in a trade unlike a healthy Bridgewater. For what little we could get for him I think he’s better being here as a mentor.
If he and Gary Vaynerchuk put their money together they'd still be laughed out of the building by Chris and Woody
They were interviewing Darnold today on ESPN radio and at the end of the interview either Rosenberg or Allen said, "I wish you all the bust.. I mean best." He had to have planned that right?
Billionaires don’t sell the biggest toys in the world if they absolutely don’t have to. Woody and Chris will pass this team on for generations.
Very true. Best pay is seeing him at home games. Every time I see him I can't believe how our out of character it seems
I used to dislike Francesca with the Jets hate but he turned into Howard Stern for me. I just had to listen... plus being from the Bronx I’m a Yankee fan. Kay and Rosenbitch suck But Don is good
Before the draft. Before the trade. Etc. Etc... Teddy Bridgewater was a recovering player, who was worthy of taking a flyer on. Was well worth a kicking of the tire's on a pretty big name QB to add competition to our QB room alongside of a veteran McCown. Just a classic example of a low risk/high reward scenario. And also to be used as an added insurance fallback option just in case we flopped during the draft and missed out on our QB... Then. And only then. We may have been able to begin to think and talk "long term" in regards to Teddy. But that's not the case. There's now no way we can keep Teddy Bridgewater long term and/or beyond 2018. Not after the drafting of Sam we can't. This isn't quite exactly an Aaron Rodgers/Brett Favre situation. Nothing against Teddy but he isn't quite Brett Favre. And has no real chance of keeping a #3 overall pick on the bench. Just isn't happening. Not on Macc's clock it's not. Rather than paying a backup QB (who's looking to start) big money (Bridgewater)... In a perfect world Sam works out and we draft a mid to late round QB to develop behind Darnold into a backup. As N.E did with Jimmy (although now looks to be a very stupid N.E decision to have traded the guy with Brady aging over 40). Look. Teddy still has dreams of recovering from injury into a starting QB. There's just too much stock invested into Darnold right now. And Bridgewater himself understands that. Which is why he agreed to come here in the 1st place. While we had QB's such as a career veteran journeyman in McCown and two non-threats to Teddy in Petty & Hackenberg. Not saying Bridgewater isn't competitive in nature. Because he is. Not to say he fears competition. Because he doesn't. But post-draft? Teddy Bridgewater does not agree to come to NY in order to show case his ability. Not with Sam Darnold. He'd look to start over, elsewhere. Anyone would. Even if Bridgewater looks rusty during our preseason, he'll still get an opportunity to sign a nice contact from another team come Free Agency. He only needs to avoid injury and remain healthy for it to happen too. Even with a not so impressive preseason; there will still be QB starved franchises looking to take a flyer on Bridgewater due to previous ability (extreme accuracy) and pure past potential come Free Agency. The best case scenario for our Jets Franchise, is for Bridgewater to shine throughout preseason. That's when you put Teddy on the shelf. As trade bait. And you keep him there. Until a contending team loses their starting QB. And becomes desperate to save their 2018 season. If you're Macc that's exactly when you strike a trade. You then milk them for as many assets as possible and continue earning that title of G.M. Best case scenario. Teddy thrives during preseason. You go into week 1 with either of McCown or a rookie Darnold as starter. If after an outstanding preseason from Teddy, you don't just continue to play him. Or gamble. Or give him an opportunity to get injured or look bad on the field. You keep his value as high as possible. You wish for a breakout preseason performance out of Teddy; in order to hopefully pull off a regular season heist before or at the trade deadline. We either trade him. Or we lose him for nothing come Free Agency. It's as simple as that. Black and White. No in-between. If I could pick one player, outside of Darnold who lights up preseason... It's Teddy Bridgewater. This F.O needs an outstanding preseason out of Teddy in the worst way. Josh McCown: Veteran leader. Teddy Bridgewater: Trade bait. Sam Darnold: The (very) near future. As you can see Teddy is stuck in the middle. All he's trying to do is remain healthy until his next opportunity to become a teams full time starter. I don't believe he's willing to accept or settle for anything less. It won't be with the Jets either. He can easily walk into a Jax or Denver. Without a Sam Darnold already there.
