Burnett looked like a decent enough wr4 at the end of the year plus young and still can improve , Bellamy May be something, he didn’t get much run in Chicago. I am in no hurry to bury either of them deeper on the depth chart for a 30 yo with questionable hands. Not every roster spot has to be filled with the upcoming season in mind. Some spots have to have be for the upcoming years.

I feel like WR is one of the positions where we have the upcoming years in mind more than the immediate future.

    Robby Anderson - 26
    Quincy Enunwa - 27
    Jamison Crowder - 26

I'd argue that we NEED some veteran leadership in that group. Bellamy is the oldest at 30 and he's a special teamer at best most likely. Kearse and Rishard Matthews probably won't be back. A guy like Garcon would be fantastic IMO, but I do think Burnett needs a roster spot.

Robby, Quincy, Crowder, Garcon, Burnett, Bellamy

I'd sign up for that WR room right now.

The problem is you’re only dressing 5 on game day. So you have to choose between garçon and Burnett, giving Bellamy the 4th spot for teams.

  5. Dont forget Peake who is also a good STer.

I believe we need a #1 WR who can make plays all over the field and make our other skill players better. Too late to get one this year, but maybe we land one in next year's draft. We currently have a group of #2 and #3 WR's and it's not enough IMO.

Enunwa = I could not agree with you more especially when your boy ( Enunwa ) who I like a lot , IMO is not a # 1 WR and just cannot stay healthy due to the style that he plays. People still try and sell me on Robbie Anderson and again I just sigh. Not to derail the thread but unless the GM addresses the line one of these years , all the Weapons in the world won't mean squat .

I think Peake is done here. He’ll be part of the Labor Day cut down.

Since I had suggested it, I will answer.
Crabtree is looking for money at this point. I'm sure he'd love to go to a contender and have a chance to get a ring, but it's all about what extra cash he can scrape for the future. He's no one two or even 3 in this league any longer, just like Dez.
Robbie, Q and Crowder are not being replaced any time soon. As long as Robbie stays out of trouble off field, he will be a priority signing next season.
As far as developing their replacements, they first have to be on the roster. Not much depth there. NFL has one guarantee, injuries. Look at how quickly our season derailed last year with injuries to the WRs. Let's not wind up having special teams players as our starters again.
Having a guy like Crabtree gives us a legit red zone target , how many stalled drives ended in FGs in recent seasons?
Plus legit depth if/ when an injury happens.

Still pisses me off that the Jets didn't have the inside track on a guy from Hofstra.

Not sure I want to pin the red zone problems on the talent more than the coaching. That said, you make some good points, I just can’t get on board with him as depth. Unless your all in on a season like the pats or saints or rams, depth should have upside.
Hopefully we’re thinking that way next year. Than again hopefully we won’t need him as someone steps up.

The real problem I see is we have too many receivers who are best suited to the slot. We need someone opposite Anderson and a reliable red zone target. Just tired of constantly leaving points on the board, settling for 3.
A winning culture starts with actual wins. A player like Crabtree could easily be the difference between a couple wins and losses.

We could've gotten Harmon in round 6 to be a red zone target and develop into a #2, but took an injury prone CB instead.

My guess is that he would want to be the #1 WR or at least #2, but since he is still out there in FA (although it could be of his choosing, he could have turned down an offer or offers), it's at least possible that he would sign as the #4 if he didn't get any better/other offers and still wants to play. I wasn't saying that we should sign Crabtree, just that it would upgrade our WR corps.

I agree that we should be developing young talent at WR (and all positions for that matter), but since Mac didn't see fit to draft a WR and the only one he signed as a UDFA is Dortch who I think is probably just a returner and gadget player, what young talent do we have to develop? Burnett? Mac had a chance to draft a potential #1 WR (Kelvin Harmon) in the 6th round and passed on him. There are a few other young WRs on the roster now, but do you really give any of them a realistic chance at making the team? Burnett could possibly develop into a serviceable WR. If he can and wouldn't hold back Sam's development, fine. Again, I'm not saying that we must sign Crabtree, just that it's an option that could help Sam develop and perhaps help the team win another game or two. At this point, I think the #1 priority should be developing Sam. It's more important than wins imo.

Next year is supposed to be a great draft for WRs, better than this one. While we will probably need to get our future LT and maybe a C, we should still be able to draft a WR or two next year.

ya know, Harmon would've been a better selection, yeah.... probably.

but, Macc was swinging for the fences with that Cornerback. He blew out his knee twice but I've seen some people say he has 1st/2nd round talent. In the 6th round, I mean usually there ain't much left but low ceiling guys or guys you take a big chance on. He swung for the fences at a position of need, I'm not gonna kill him for it.

I think we are fine on the outside. Enunwa is better outside than he is given credit for. Everyone seems to forget when he broke out after Marshall went out. As long as he isn’t running 37 consecutive screen passes he’ll have a big year for us. We have very good weapons right now. We’re just too batter to see it.
Let this guy break it down

Good points. Your last sentence is particularly spot on, because Enunwa has trouble staying injury-free and Anderson has had some injuries as well, and with his thin frame, could easily get injured again. I agree that we need some solid depth. I wish that Mac had taken Harmon in Rd. 6 instead of that CB from Rutgers that probably has no chance.
