    Once again for the uniformed.

Atheism is the lack of a belief in a god. If someone didn't claim that a god existed, there would be no such thing as atheism. What do you call someone who doesn't believe in Santa Claus, fairies, goblins, the easter bunny, the Loch Ness monster or invisible pink unicorns?

There is gnosticism and agnosticism. Gnosticism is what you know or can know. Agnosticism is what you don't know or can't possibly know. I am an agnostic atheist. I don't know if there is a god, and I don't believe that a god exists.

The reason why you suck at debate is not your position, but that you don't understand the opposition's position.

I don't believe in magic wizards, so no, I don't believe in nonsense.

Do you believe that what you see with your eyes is all there is? Do you believe there could be something out there that our 5 senses can't detect? You already said you understand that nothing can come from nothing....so how did anything come to be? There is an enormous amount of human experience that can't be explained by modern science. Either most of humanity has been crazy, or delusional, or extremely gullible, or there is something in our collective experience as human beings that science cannot explain. Is it reasonable to deny so much of human history with no scientific basis for doing so?

Once again, I will remind you of what we both acknowledged to be true:

    A) Nothing comes from nothing.
    B) Before the Big Bang there was nothing.
    C) Therefore, either the universe is some kind of strange mirage that defies all science and logic, or there is a supernatural reality behind the universe.

....and all those people throughout history who have experienced the spiritual or the supernatural in their lives were not crazy, delusional, or naive.

Once again, I will remind you that only you have acknowledged those things to be true.

I'm starting to believe that you are developmentally disabled and I feel bad that I have even engaged you in a debate.

Why are you being so stubborn?! I am giving you credit for helping me to come to our conclusion, a logical conclusion that makes perfect sense given modern science. It's like we discovered a buried treasure of gold, and you keep insisting that it's fool's gold despite the fact that the gold has been carefully analyzed by experts...or that a lightbulb was just turned on right in front of you, and yet you keep denying that it's really on, or that it's only on "for the sake of argument" lol .... that's how ridiculous your posts have become! I'm sorry, I'm trying to stay respectful, but you just keep denying what has been proven over and over again right in front of your eyes!

And worse, you keep denying what you yourself said earlier....I thought we came to an agreement, and you even ended your post with "fin" indicating that the question was answered, and now you keep backtracking....

If the argument is valid, then "for the sake of this argument" just confirms the truth of what we have proven. And if we did not prove the things I highlighted above, then please explain to me where the fallacy in our argument lies...

The only thing we have concluded is that you are developmentally disabled. Good luck in life.

"When Washington became our first President under the new Constitution of the United States, he said at his Inaugural Address:

"No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency... We ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.

Many of our legislators and judges seem to have forgotten what Washington said. It is up to us to restore to America its Godly heritage and to never forget the miracles that made us the great nation that we have become."

washington was a deist - notice the reference to "providence" and general reference to "heaven" and "rules of order" and not God, Jesus, etc...

he would be an example of the very people you are failing miserably arguing against here in this long thread

I think I figured out how he was top 5% in his high school. He was home high schooled along with his 15 brothers and sister, 15 siblings because you know the church what with no birth control and no abortions. So they are all just about as brain damaged as truf, or more so maybe, thus top 5% out of 16 siblings. That and he was actually 5th smartest out of the litter but he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer so he thought that meant top 5%.

Um, the term "God's Providence" is part of the Catholic faith, and it doesn't mean what you apparently think it does. It means that God oversees all of creation, and steps in to act on those rare occasions when He sees fit, in His wisdom. A Deist, on the other hand, believes in a distant, supernatural creator who set everything in motion and then took a back seat, an impersonal deity.

....everyday I encounter more myths and misinformation in this thread. So many people have been brainwashed and confused by the lies out there that those trying to re-write history to fit their agendas are trying to "teach" us (even in public schools nowadays, sadly, social studies is contaminated with these political agendas and misinformation). That's why intelligent people don't even watch CNN or FOX News anymore, or any American news outlet, and instead are forced to turn to BBC news or even Al Jazeera TV. Sad, just sad.

Man oh man, the stupidity in this thread is mind-bending!!! I mean really, I knew there were ignorant people out there, but this is just unreal....also why this thread is so important. Apparently this is the only education some people on this board have ever gotten .... because, and listen up, this is key: South Park, Bill Maher, and other slapstick comedies do not count as education! HUH?!, who knew? LOL.....sorry, I shouldn't laugh, because this is just sad. (and an indictment of our public school system in America.) And btw I attended public H.S. and J.H.S., so I was exposed to the good, bad, and the ugly myself. Thank God my parents could afford to send me to Catholic elementary school, which is the only reason I can even read or write today! When I went to public JHS and HS, I was amazed at how little my classmates knew, and I was in honors classes, so these were the smarter ones. I found out that the dumbest kids in Catholic school know more than the smartest kids in public school. I'm serious, I'm not even exaggerating here...the reason is simple: the discipline in Catholic Schools forces all students to learn what they are supposed to in order to pass, not this "social promotion crap" the public schools use, probably because they are afraid of the parents. Sad, just sad.

I will continue to post thoughtful commentary on science and religion, along with a few other educated people on here, while trying my best to ignore the stupidity and childish insults from the trolls.
